Camp Emunah’s unique 10th grade traveling program offers a breathtaking tour of communities around the West Coast of the US and Canada. While campers enjoy activities like whitewater rafting, alpine sliding and rock climbing, they also have a special opportunity to learn and grow as shluchos.
The Traveling Shluchos get a healthy blend of the material and spiritual. While road tripping to Chabad Centers across the West Coast, campers visit Shluchim and engage their communities, nurturing their appreciation of the Rebbe’s shlichus. The experience makes an undeniable impact on every camper. Spending each Shabbos in another Chabad House opens up new worlds and windows to the inspiring shlichus way of life, while cultivating a deeper appreciation of what it means to be a Bas Chabad.
Former campers have shared their experiences of the camp and have said that it was a summer they will never forget. Sarah Berkowitz said, “Being a Traveling Shlucha wasn’t just about bringing Judaism to others, it brought warmth to my own neshama.” Matty Moya said, “It was so much fun. It’s nonstop activity, and really does show what it’s like to be on shlichus.”
Mrs. Brocha Leeds, shlucha to University of California, Berkeley hosted the Traveling Shluchos at her Beis Chabad. “They bring so much chayus and energy with them and it leaves a lasting impact on our community,” she said.
Mrs. Chaya Elishevitz, shlucha to Bellevue, Washington, has experienced the Traveling Shluchos from two perspectives. “Traveling Shluchos gives the campers a real love of shlichus and giving to others,” she said. “I was also fortunate to be a counselor for this program years ago, and I remember how moving it was to visit different shluchim and their communities. It was a life-changing experience.”
“The camp is really special because it shows the girls the enormity of the Rebbe’s work. They also find how fulfilling it feels to share yiddishkeit with others,” said Traveling Shluchos director, Mrs. Goldie Gansbourg. “They see that these shluchos, these amazing women, started out as THEM.”
Space in the program is very limited, and enrollment closes after 22 Shvat. For more information visit campemunah.org.
