In the aftermath of the recent terror attack targeting the Jews of Sydney, Australia, Camp Emunah is offering a full summer camp experience, tuition-free, for girls from the affected Bondi shluchim community.
Camp Emunah has seen, firsthand, what camp means for kids during days of crisis. In the summer of 2020, as much of the world was living under the Coronavirus lockdowns, Emunah opened its doors to make sure that campers could step out of isolation, reconnect with peers and return to a healthy, joyful rhythm of healthy recreation and friendship. The impact of that experience continues to be felt years later.
“After what happened in Sydney, I knew immediately that these children needed a place to just be kids again,” said Tzivie Hecht. “Camp gives them space to put fear aside, reconnect with themselves and each other, and build themselves back up through hiskashrus, friendship, and Jewish pride. Everything we do, from trips to farbrengens to color war, is there to uplift them and make them stronger.”
As part of this initiative, Camp Emunah is offering full tuition scholarships to daughters of shluchim from Bondi. Currently, there are currently a dozen girls from Bondi’s shluchim community will join Emunah this summer for an experience centered on healing, connection, and growth.
