In 1952 Rabbi Yakov Yehudah and Rebbetzin Chave Hecht spent a weekend in the Catskills. On Shabbos afternoon, they walked to visit the Agudah Boys Camp, and were thoroughly impressed with the immense impact summer camp can have on a child.
After Shabbos, they traveled back to Brooklyn and immediately went to tell the Rebbe of their dream to open a Lubavitch girls camp and request a bracha.
The following summer, in 1953, Rabbi and Rebbetzin Hecht opened Camp Emunah in the previous Windsor Lake Hotel on Old Greenfield Road.
This summer is our 70th camping season, and we are proud to continue the legacy of providing girls a safe, fun, and growing environment bgashmius u’bruchnius.
In honor of our 70 years, Camp Emunah invites all alumni, mothers, and friends to celebrate with us on Sunday, 17 Av/August 14, 2:30-5:30 pm.
The event will be a tribute to Rebbetzin Hecht OBM, ‘The Mommy of Us All.’
Parking will be available in BJJ Teen Camp with a shuttle to our Junior Camp, where the event will take place.
