On Sunday evening, 1 Shevat, 5780, Rabbi YY Jacobson addressed 500 members of the Chabad communities of Southern California, in preparation for Yud Shevat 5780, 70th yartzeit of the Rebbe Rayatz, and 70th year of the Rebbe’s leadership.
The event, organized by Rabbi Levi Reichik and Cong. Levi Yitzchak, brought together hundreds of Chabad men and women from Los Angeles and nearby cities, for an evening of inspiration in preparation to Yud Shevat.
The event was chaired by Rabbi Moshe Keselman and Rabbi Reuven Wolf, who called on the audience to begin new projects and shake things up in honor of 70 years.
Rabbi Jacobson focused on two revolutionary points of the Maamar Basi Legani 5720 (1960), which is connected to this year. In this historic maamar the Rebbe speaks of the potential destructiveness of misplaced humility, and how G-d will remain “dirty,” so to speak, but will never detach from His children.
He also repeated a historic Sicha of Sukkos 1991, when the Rebbe said words about a Rebbe which he never said before. This was the last Sukkos, and the Rebbe himself acknowledged he is saying something “scary” that “shakes one up.”
