It could have ended in disaster, but the sharp eyes of one passenger and the quick thinking of bus driver Michael Yagur prevented what could have been a terrible tragedy.
A bomb planted on board bus no. 240 as it made its way from Bat Yam to Bnei Brak was spotted by an alert passenger, and, thanks to Yagur, the 12 people on board were quickly sent to safety.
“One of the passengers told me there was a bag on the bus. I asked who it belonged to but no one claimed it,” Yagur recalled. “I ordered the passengers off at the next stop and about 10 minutes later the bus exploded.”
But, Yagur told Ynet, “I am not a hero.”
The bag holding the bomb was big and black, Yagur said, with zippers at the top and the bottom. It had been placed on a seat behind the rear door.
Yagur “displayed outstanding resourcefulness” in a situation where the timing was key, said Eitan Fiksman, a spokesman for Dan Bus Company, which runs the route.
Yagur was the last off the bus and the bomb detonated immediately after he disembarked, Fiksman added. It was the most serious attack inside Israel in more than a year.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said there were no injuries in the blast, which took place in the Tel Aviv suburb of Bat Yam. The explosion blew windows out of the bus and charred the sides of the vehicle.
“Based on the findings at the scene by bomb disposal experts, it was a terrorist attack,” Rosenfeld said. “We’re continuing to search the area for suspects.”

I’m scared that it might have been one of the people on the bus who planted it and then decided that he would get of at the next stop before the us exploded….anyways its still a HUGE nes and B”H no one was hurt! Thank You Hashem!!!
When good happens, its from Hashem and we thank him.
When ch”v bad happens, its still from hashem. Our pain is because we don’t see the true good that is hidden in it (tanya chapter 26 calls this the good of the hidden spiritual worlds, forwhich we are required to bless Hashem as well.)
Yes this is an open miracle and we thank hashem for his kindness!
Thank you Hashem.
Please cease “these types of miracles”, send Moshiach NOW!
how did you answer 13’s point about inconsistency?
a. when the bomb results in no one hurt, all who could have gotten hurt should thank hashem for sparing them (and all who hear of it should thank as well) since hashem made sure no one got hurt.
b. when the bomb results in death and injury should those directly and indirectly affected adversely express their dislike for hashem – since he made sure they got hurt and killed?
if hashem should get credit for the good should he not get credit for the bad?
imagine each of those 12 people. imagine them on their way to their families, sitting down for supper. imagine them going home tonight to those that love them and not chas vshalom being a “phone call” that would have shattered their families lives forever. they are each a whole world and for that they were saved yes we thank hashem.
When something good especially a miracle we DO have to thank Hashem (For there was a prophet that was supposed to be Moshiach but because he dint thank Hashem when good things happen he wasn’t worthy) but when something bad happens it doesn’t mean we don’t thank Hashem, rather when it’s not revealed that’s it’s for the good there’s no obligation to thank Hashem as we would when it’s revealed that’s it’s was for the good!
The Rebbe pleaded with all the Prime Ministers Dont make peace with any of these animals! When you have the chance eradicate them completely! BEFORE they Chas V’shalom get to do any more harm.Hashem Yeracheim!
Netanyahu give it up. No more peace and no more pieces!
The whole Eretz Yisroel belongs to us Yidden and please get rid of the cockroaches that get anywhere close to our borders!
Listen to the Rebbe who pleaded with all the Prime Ministers
how many bombs blew up with people on them and from which people got killed and hurt? this one time someone alerted the driver who evacuated (a lightly populated) bus just in time and no one got hurt and it’s hodu lashem??? and for when people do get hurt do you say the opposite? be consistent.
baruch hashem everyone is fine!!!!!
hodu lahashem ki tov ki leolom chasdo!!!!!
I think its time for videos on the buses no? The bigger question is ho w ill Netanyahu & company respond Probably with mor etalks od ocncessions etc. which is what casues this in the first place they need to be hit hard fast & complete! No more talks no more concessions tell criminal Obama to go to hell & help send him there!
The heros here are the ordinary passengers who spotted the bag and did not keep quiet about it, they were alert and acted like a true Israeli .
Fear superseding love is the call of the day for the Israeli government. (Fear of the nations)
If they truly loved their people the terrorists wouldn’t be a threat at all.
HaShem I do love you so much.
THE BOMB WAS NOT DETONATED BY SAPPERS…IT EXPLODED 10 MINUTES AFTER PASSENGERS DISEMBARKED FROM THE BUS.
BARUCH HASHEM A THOUSAND TIMES!!
Hodu LaHashem Ki Tov!
It’s not every day we hear such good news!
Baruch HaShem
I’m just wondering why the bus driver didn’t evacuate on the spot, instead waited for the next stop?
Thank God
wow. miracles happen
when did this happen
