Brooklyn Heights Jewish Academy and Kiddie Korner Preschool, both projects of Chabad of Brooklyn Heights, celebrated the Rebbe’s birthday in both educational facilities on Tuesday this week, Yud Alef Nissan.
“This year was very special,” says Rabbi Aaron L. Raskin, the Dean of BHJA, “The Rebbe would have been so proud to see children of such young ages honoring his teachings and practicing them full force every day in our schools.”
At Kiddie Korner Preschool children sang songs of Vehavta Leracha Kamocha (loving your fellow Jew as yourself) and gave Tzedaka in honor of the Rebbe. The Morahs (teachers) gathered their classes, spoke about the Rebbe and his teachings and gave out fruit as well. Educational Director, Sheli Man- Steinberg and founder and Executive Director, Shternie Raskin, were extremely proud of their educational staff. “After so many years of hard work I am so delighted to see my Kiddie Korner families celebrating Yiddishkeit, a freedom that we should never take for granted,” says Shternie Raskin.
BHJA faculty and Educational director, Rabbi Yeshayahu Greenfeld, Dean Rabbi Araon L. Raskin, and Rabbi Yankel Raskin, prepared a wonderful educational program for the BHJA children as well. At the end of the program each child received a Tanya in honor of the Rebbe’s teachings and prompts to print Tanyas and distribute them. The Tanyas were proudly printed in BHJA earlier this year by Chaya Raskin, which made this gift even more meaningful for all.
