On a crisp evening in Brooklyn, the somber notes of remembrance echoed through the air as community members gathered in front of Borough Hall to pay tribute to the victims of Hamas in Israel. This poignant tributary event, organized by community leaders Rabbi Eliyahu and Shaindy Raskin of Chabad Student Space, brought together prominent guests, activists, and concerned citizens to stand in solidarity with the victims and their families.
Some of the notable figures who led prayers and offered words of hope and support were Councilman Lincoln Ressler, Notable Attorney Sanford Rubenstein, Esq. (of Rubenstein & Rynecki), the Rabbis of Brooklyn Heights, Attorney and Brooklyn Brandeis Association President Jeffrey Miller, and Lara Krinsky, National Director Of Content And Production at Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF), among others.
In a moving spectacle, Rabbi Aaron Raskin placed tefillin on Brooklyn Law School student and world- famous Powerlifter Blake Barrett, and led the crowd in a resounding Shema prayer. Shliach Yerachmiel Holtzberg led a group of bochurim in laying tefillin on every male member in the crowd.
Cantor Shlomie Rabin sang emotional renditions of Keil Malei Rachmim and the Mi shebeirach prayer for the IDF mission. He led the crowd in singing Kol Haolam Kulo and Oseh Shalom.
All of the participants stood side by side, symbolizing the spirit of Jewish unity.
Throughout the event, attendees were invited to share their thoughts and stories. Students from Brooklyn Law School spoke of their connections to loved ones in Israel, recounting their experiences and expressing their hopes for an end to the bloodshed.
Candles were lit in memory of the victims, and songs representing Jewish pride and hope were sang on the steps of Brooklyn Borough Hall as a gesture of remembrance and solidarity. The poignant flicker of candlelight in the Brooklyn night served as a symbol of hope amid the darkness of conflict.
As the night sky darkened over Brooklyn, the attendees left with a renewed sense of purpose. In a world too often marred by division and conflict, the Brooklyn gathering served as a beacon of hope, illustrating the power of unity.
