A new Hakhel initiative was launched at the Mill Hill United Synagogue in London on Monday – Rosh Chodesh Shevat.
With more than 100 people in attendance, Shliach Rabbi Yitzchak Schochet spoke about the significance and the power of reciting Tehilim.
This was to mark the launch of a new monthly Tehilim group where 150 members will gather on the Thursday before each Shabbos Mevarchim and each member will recite a kapital that has been allocated to them.
“When more sign up, which I am sure will happen, then we will double up!” Rabbi Schochet told the crowd. “Think of the impact this will have on each of you individually and all of the community collectively.”
He also reflected on how the launch date was chosen a couple of months ago quite randomly. “It was awe-inspiring to consider the Hayom Yom that morning (Rosh Chodesh Shevat) which speaks about the incredible importance of reciting Tehilim.”

I will copy the same in my Chabad house. I like it
Loved everything Rabbi Shoat said about saying T’hillim.
I say each of my children’s Kapitlach, which is something my father does, I also say both my parents Kapitlach even though they are both alive also as a connection to them and as a gratitude for everything they did and continue to do for me today.
Beautiful, please have more of Rabbi Shochats lectures.
