Bakerie, the once popular artisanal bakery in Crown Heights which closed during the Covid pandemic, is reopening in the next few weeks.
Owner Danny Branover, who owns the iconic Basil Restaurant and the upscale Meat NY, both in the Crown Heights neighborhood, is the owner of Bakerie as well.
He has now partnered with Menachem Sheinberger of Holesome Bagels bagel shop and known local caterer, to reopen the bakery on Albany Avenue near Sterling Place.
Bakerie will undergo a transformation, offering mostly ready-to-go bakery items, delectable cakes, pastries, cookies, Viennoiserie, bread, and gourmet coffee, the new owner tells COLlive.com.
“We will be offering our customers delicious bakery items and baked goods, and we will be able to offer them now at larger quantities, to keep up with demand,” Sheinberger says.
Bakery items will include desserts in various sizes – from personal cakes to logs to 9-inch cakes for serving on Shabbos or occasions and will have dairy, non-dairy and flourless options. They will also offer a seasonal menu of delicious gourmet coffee blends.
They will also offer their selection of popular sourdough bread.
The menu will be expanded to include salads and other ready-to-go delicious items after Tishrei, he said.
The two have partnered with companies in Israel for their bakery offerings, which are renowned for the highest quality, delectable cakes, pastries and desserts.
“In the US, the Kosher market is small compared to the larger food market,” Sheinberger says. “In Israel, there is a huge market for Kosher items, so the investment in quality is much greater. We look forward to serving our customers our incredible new selection,” he says.
Bakerie is now holding a soft opening with limited hours. Open on Sunday, Erev Yom Tov.
