40 Bochurim have given up the one hour a day for that they have for “themselves” and are volunteering for the Friendship Circle.
The Friendship Circle’s Boy’s division – Boys over 10 and young adults with special needs, will have Bochurim from local Yeshivos visit their homes, learn with them at Yeshiva and a host of programs and activities planned for the coming year.
The Bochurim were treated to dinner and heard from Mrs. Tzirl Goldman, founder of the Friendship Circle of Brooklyn, and herself a parent of a young adult with special needs. Mrs. Goldman impressed upon the volunteers the importance of the task they have taken upon themselves, relating a story of a volunteer who would visit the office regularly, requesting ideas for what to do during his weekly visit. One week the Bochur returned to the office, as if a light bulb went on, saying, “Mrs. Goldman, I got it! All he wants is for me to be his friend!”
Yossi Smoller, Coordinator of the Boys division, emphasized the importance of dedication and consistency, explaining that what a FC volunteer learns and gains during this experience, is priceless and will last a lifetime.
The evening concluded with Rabbi Berel Majesky thanking the volunteers for taking upon themselves this Shlichus.
All new volunteers received a little token of appreciation, the much sought after FC Yarmulkah.

Until now it seems like FC was dominated by girls. But Bochurim are really needed for the older boys and even adults (in age). Hopefully our Yeshivos will consider this an important Mivtzah and Mitzvah and support the guys who volunteer.
