A crowd of 150 people welcomed a Sefer Torah written for the Chabad House on Avenue Simon Bolivar in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, France.
The Chabad center was directed by the Shliach Rabbi Yossef Attuil who passed away at the age of 61 after suffering a heart attack some 2 years ago, leaving a devastated family and community.
The love they had for him was clearly evident at the ceremony where the final letters were written in the Torah. His son wiped tears before he raised the Torah for all to see.
The crowd then joined in singing and dancing as customary. Participating were fellow Shluchim and community members.
Rabbi Attuil was one of the many Chassidim who grew up in a secular Jewish home and has chosen to follow the path of Torah and Chassidus by the influence of the legendary late Shliach Rabbi Shmuel “Mulle” Azimov OBM.
