He’s in it for the long run.
Robert Cornegy, noticeable for his seven-foot frame and long dreadlocks that are wrapped into a bun, visited the Crown Heights neighborhood on Wednesday to discuss his candidacy for Brooklyn Borough President in the upcoming election.
Once certified by Guinness World Records as the World’s Tallest Politician (a title he held from March to October 2019), Cornegy a New York City Council Member for the 36th District representing Bedford-Stuyvesant and northern Crown Heights.
Cornegy was flanked by community activists Chanina Sperlin and Eli Cohen of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council as he walked up the down Kingston Avenue, stepping into local businesses and speaking with residents and small business owners.
Cornegy heard from residents about their concerns and spoke to them about his time living in Petach Tikvah, Israel, while he was a professional basketball player in Israel.
Cornegy, a Democrat, was delighted to meet the Eber and Raskin families and hear about their family-owned businesses and related that he plans to support small businesses in New York.
He also told residents that he is very supportive of parents’ rights in education.
He later stopped at Lubavitch World Headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway where he was joined by activist Yaacov Behrman.
General elections for members of the New York City Council will be held on November 2, 2021. The primary elections will be held on June 22, 2021.
NY1 reported that Cornegy is one of the 3 leading candidates alongside Assemblywoman Jo Anne Simon and Councilman Antonio Reynoso to succeed Eric Adams as Brooklyn Borough President. “Cornegy is the most moderate of the three,” they said.
A fourth elected official in the race is Councilman Mathieu Eugene who represents District 40 which includes Crown Heights, East Flatbush, Flatbush, Kensington, Midwood, Prospect Park, and Prospect Lefferts Gardens.

I had a chance to talk to Mr. Cornegy, I came out impressed, and I think that he will be a real friend to the Jewish community.
We need a clear list of whom to vote for. As a fellow Crown Heightser involved in local organizations, I have no clue who we should be voting for. Will the political guys put out a clear list please?
