who was that amazing singer???
does anybody know i would love to book him for a bar-mitvoa or wtvr?!
Some people have nothing to do except crtisize ,they should be ashamed of themselves. Let me see you pick yourself up and do what these individuals did. DSid you sposor the free snacks ,entertainment….? Did you try to do something good for the Communtu with no tangible award ?? For A change let’s see people noting the positive work that people do. Let;s see you offering to take over next year.I ;m sure you will do a better job. A big Yasher Koach to all those involved in this undertaking .It took a lot of effort from certain indiviuald who… Read more »
That was always the theme of Lag Bomer
Sheves Achim gam Yochad
from the time of the Rashbi
probaly the nicest event seen in crown heights in the last few years, living abroad seeing all other chassidim participate in a fire lecoved r’ Shimon Bar yochai singin Bar yochai, its sad that we as chassidim only caught on the last.
My pizza response was not foolish at all. To throw cold water (amalek) on a terrific jewish event (gathering jews in the name of Rashbi) is whats “hurtful and chutzpadik”. Dont turn the tables. We can live with all the details of what the rebbe did but we cannot be out of our minds by saying foolish things like “The Rebbe NEVER made one nor mentioned it”. How about JLI and all these new Chabad programs? The rebbe never mentioned them either. You can stay in 1994 if you want but we are gonna march forward to live with the… Read more »
In regards to Daf Yomi the Rebbe said “the fact the the shfer didnt koch in it is enough of a reason not to do it” so while making a bonfire may seem and is a nice idea it is interesting that one was never made in lubavitch, your pizza response was foolish and immature and your mockery of the “pre gimmel tammuz bliss” was hurtful and chutzpadic. We as chassidim must take every tnua and minute detail of the Rebbe’s way of conducting himself and apply it to our lives and to us it should and does make a… Read more »
the rebbe never ate pizza (at least in public) either so ban all pizza shops. your line of thinking is so backward you can go back to your fantasy pre gimmel tammuz bliss. while we as lubavitchers in crown heights will do whatever it takes to get together and celebrate our JEWISH ancestors. Innovate NEW ways to bring yidden together instead of saying “The rebbe never made one nor mentioned it”.
I clearly remember bonfires on eastern parkway over 20 years ago when I was a little kid.
אין לאמריקאים מושג במדורות!
ומה עם כמה בטטות במדורה?
heloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I got great joy from seeing all these pictures of children spending time with their fathers at the bon fire. This is what childhood memories are made of.
Well done!
is a JEWISH concept, that’s one of the minhagim of lag b’omer!!! why do you say that a few centuries old custom is a new concept? B’h the authorities allow it here now. And anyway, what else would you do to celebrate Lag B’omer at nighttime?
On a different note, did anyone get a video of the sparks boys that could be posted? would love to see it!!
Correct. The Rebbe Rashab would buy a Hadloko for Eretz Yisroel – but #1 is also correct that the Rebbe Rashab or the Rebbe or all other our Rabbaim, never made Hadlokas in Lubavitch or elswere. It’s not a Lubavitcer Minhag – It’s a minhag Eretz Yisroel.
is there a reply from the rebbe against it. so what if it brings chasidim together in a joy’s and respectful way. don’t blame lack of saying as of being against it. just smile and join in the smicha of lag B’omer
check the frediker rebbes sichos that in the alter shettle they made a bon fire and the rebbe rashab would buy a a hadloka
great work ravbbi liberow!

I think this is beautiful!! Sad I couldn’t be there (don’t live in N.Y.)
but if you’ll look closely at the photos you will see some real die hard chasidim there!!!
stop critisizing. not everything done in crownheights has to have negitivity to it. just be thankfull and enjoy the most you can get out of all these programs
Chill out! And what is a die-hard Chassid?
Nice idea. But let’s not get carried away! We should remember that making bon fire’s in Crown Heights on Lag Baomer is a new concept produced AFTER Gimmel Taamuz. The Rebbe NEVER made one nor mentioned it. Cute idea anyway. (That is why you will not find the “die-hard” Chassidim of the Rebbe, not participating in theses new events in Crown Heights).
