The Bogolubov Simcha Fund, administered by Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, has already sent out a holiday gift of $500 to some 2,500 Chabad-Lubavitch Shluchim families worldwide.
The $1,250,000 which was already mailed out is part of a $2 million grant by Ukrainian Jewish billionaire Gennady Bogolubov and his wife on the occasion of the birth of their daughter Dina.
Israel’s popular daily Yedioth Aharonot titled the news about the donation “2 Million Dollar Baby” and Shluchim have responded with much appreciation for Bogolubov’s generosity and his Simcha Fund, dedicated to assisting Shluchim during their respective family life-cycle events.
Bogolubov, president of the Dnepropetrovsk Jewish Community, is a household name within Chabad after founding the Simcha Fund, at the suggestion of Vice Chairman of Merkos Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky and Rabbi Shmuel Kaminetzky, Chief Rabbi of Dnepropeterovsk, the city where the Rebbe grew up.
Since 2008, with an endowment of $10 million, the fund disbursed gifts on the occasion of 3952 simchas?among them weddings, bar mitzvah and baby births of Chabad Shluchim.
This new one-time gift in honor of his newborn daughter is said to be the first time in recent years that a donor gave a gift uniting all families on Shlichus.
In an email to Shluchim on September 16, Rabbi Kotlarsky wrote: “Ka”h there are many Shluchim and being that the entire process needs to be done in house and requires manual tasks (printing checks and envelopes etc.) it will take some time for all the checks to be mailed out.”
But as COLlive.com has confirmed Tuesday, September 28, over half of the 4,000 recipients have received the grant thanks to the efficient work of Rabbi Mendel Kotlarsky and the staff of the Merkos Suite 302 department.
Head Shluchim in every state and country were asked to send in their list of full time Shluchim under their jurisdiction for the money to be disbursed in individual stipends to each Shliach’s family.
The rest of the checks will be sent out once the remaining Head Shluchim send in their final lists, we were told.
“It’s nice to know that there is someone who cares about every Shliach and recognizes the importance of what we are doing although he never personally met us or visited our area,” one Shliach told COLlive.com and asked not to be named “because I’m sure many would say the same.”
Another Shliach added: “We all hope more will step up to the plate and take an example of Reb Tzvi Hirsh Bogolubov and Rabbis Kotlarsky and Kaminetzky, as the Rebbe always said ‘mimenu yiru vechen yaashu’.”
rock on moishe
HUGE YASHER KOACH to Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky! Continue helping Shluchim all over.
From a Shliach,
Every penny counts, especially during this month of Tishrei.
Thank you
#29, I couldn’t agree more! Especially with the dearth of shlichus positions open, it’s time that chinuch shlichus is recognized and encouraged–as the Rebbe himself insisted that the mechanchim be included in sefer hashluchim! This is an important and vital point.
The Kotlarskys are just unbelievingly great.
😉
Mendel and Rivki we are blessed to have you as our neighbor, Moshe and Rivka for being our neighbor on the next block.
A GUT KVITAL !
It is very nice what the Bogolubav fund does to give financial help for the Shluchim.
There are however many Melamdim that teach in the Rebbe’s Yeshivas who are in deep financial debt due to their minimum paycheck and to the fact that they were not paid for many weeks or even months by the Yeshivos.
If a Melamed would also get such kind of help and occasional gifts, it would be of great help and an incentive to teach the Rebbe’s children.
This is so nice of Mr. Bogolubov, just amazing. May he have much nachas from his kids!!
I’m not sure whether or not my parents got the check yet, but I can tell from their faces how excited they are to receive it, and, of course, how thankful they are to the incredible Bogolubov family.
May this money help our family of shluchim do more than before, and bring Moshiach, B’Mhera V’Yomeinu Mamosh.
Your the best Uncles… Shluchim the world over are lucky to have you working on their behalf.
Chazzak V’aamatz.
Rabbi mendel kotlarsky thank you for all your hard work
the tremendous amount of time you put into all of this
thank you, your the best
If we, Anash and Shluchim, can find a $2M donor, once a month, the life of the Rebbe’s Shluchim will much easier.

Can an address be posted where to write or, email a thank you? Yasher Koiach to R. Moishe, R. Mendel, Mr. Bogolubov, R. Kaminettzky, to our Head Shliach who was efficient in sending in his list. and to ALL the staff that “stuffed envelopes” and did the “menial” jobs. We wouldn’t have received it without you all.
Anyone who’s made a simcha knows the process of labeling, stamping, stuffing etc…… Kudos to those who are rarely mentioned!
A gut Moed, A Gut Yom Tov, and may Moshiach come NOW!!!
Share your blessings!
Very Nice! 🙂

This is amazing! Just the concept of one individual giving $500 to every Shliach in the world is probably revelatory. I hope other’s how have similar amount of wealth like Mr. Bogolubov will follow in his lead.

Some people might think that 500 dollars is no big deal, but let me tell you – every penny counts. Ask someone who has bills to pay, yom tov meals to host and programs to run and depends on donations of kind and caring people in the community. I know some might say “well, you signed up for this.” So let me stress, the above was in no way whatsoever a complaint C”V. My wife, our kinderlach and I are proud of be on shlichus and thank the Rebbe for giving us an opportunity to spend our days helping and… Read more »
On behalf of our two Shluchim overseas, who have made the most incredible Yom Tov programs, I thank Mr. & Mrs. Bogolubov in advance (they haven’t received their checks yet) for their kindness & generosity. Our children have immense Meseiros Nefesh in their Shlichos, which are not easy: they are in poor communities and do without so much in order to make these wonderful programs.
This will make such a difference to them and their children.
