Bochur’s New Single Uplifts With Story of ‘Shamil’

22-year-old Lubavitch bochur Shlomo Gleyzer has released his second rock/reggae single on the famed Chasidic story of Shamil:

We all know the story of Shamil, a tribal leader over a century ago, who fought for his people’s freedom in Russia’s Caucasian Mountains. Despite the Russian army’s false peace treaty and his subsequent imprisonment, Shamil held onto his far-sighted belief that his descent was all for the purpose of rising greater than before.

However, we can forget that the story of Shamil is also our story. We are exiled within the confines of the material world and the limitations of the human body. Although we may feel captive, we can strive for liberation by channeling our physical activities towards Torah and Mitzvos. Through these actions, we can rise higher than ever before.

Life may place us in situations of captivity, but we must keep a far-sighted perspective, looking at the bigger picture and staying strong in our fight.
