Following a year full of in depth learning, in both Niglah and Chassidus, the bochurim of Yeshivas Lubavitch Manchester have begun to produce a koivetz – booklet with heoros, every 2 weeks.
The booklet includes heoros from the bochurim as well as rabbonim and roshei Yeshiva from the litveshe and chasidishe communities who engage the bochurim in learning, and have expressed their joy in being part of this project and their amazement at the level of learning in the Yeshiva. A very special thanks to the bochurim Moti Rubin, Mendel Wilhelm and Yisrolik Gottlieb.
Culminating a year full of successful peulos and Mivztoim activities, the Yeshiva hosted a pre gimmel Tammuz event and farewell party for the Mekurovim and their Friday friends – the bochurim, who visit them each week in their homes and offices and also those who come to the weekly Thursday night Chavrusa program.
The event was held in the Beis Menachem hall where the participants were treated to a fully catered meal by the Yeshiva’s star chef Yackov Bruk.
The event was MC’d by Rabbi Levi Cohen, director of Adult education, who welcomed everyone and began with a brief history of the Yeshiva and the fact that this year is the 30th anniversary since the Yeshiva’s inception.
Rabbi Cohen also made mention of the special brochos the Yeshiva received from the Rebbe throughout the years, and the special kiruvim the Rosh Hayeshiva Rabbi Yosef A. Cohen received, such as 4 Minim and Matzos from the Rebbe every year.
He then introduced one of the Mekurovim who shared with the crowd the impact the friday visits has had on himself and his family, connecting it to last week’s sedra, comparing the bochurim to Yehoshua and Calev who followed through Moshe’s Shlichus despite the difficulties.
After some lively singing and dancing, the guest speaker of the evening was introduced, Rabbi Daniel Walker, Rabbi of the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation (an alumni of the Yeshiva) who began with thanking the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yosef A. Cohen and the Yeshiva, for as a result of their work, today he and his family are Lubavitcher chassidim and proud shluchim of the Rebbe.
He then went on to share some humorous personal anecdotes from his past Mivtzoim experiences, he then shared his appreciation at the work of the Yeshiva and the impact it has had on the congregants of his Shul. He finished off with a call for everyone to become part of the Rebbe’s army, not to be complacent, but to look out for another Jew, and thus together we will bring Moshaich speedily.
A short entertaining video was shown of what it takes for a bochur to go out every Friday and how the bochurim put their diligent study into action. The video featured some moving comments made by some of the mekurovim. The video was produced by bochurim Beri Cohen, Yackov Raskin and Mendy Landa.
Following the video some additional remarks were made by “mekurovim” who shared inspirational moments and highlights of their special connection with the bochurim who visit them, and even some open miracles they had experienced after being encouraged by the visiting bochurim to write to the Rebbe.
A surprise speaker, Mr. Jack Eisenberg, a holocaust survivor who recently starred in a TV series, had the crowd captivated while he related his personal moving experiences. The participants were moved to tears when he exclaimed, “I have only 2 to thank: G-d Almighty and the Lubavitcher Rebbe.” He finished off thanking Yeshivas Lubavitch Manchester – L’chaim for being always being there for him.
The evening culminated with the MC thanking the bochurim for all the effort and hard work they put in throughout the year. A special thank you went to Mr. Zalman and Risa Klyne for their care, dedication and support to each and every bochur, thus enabling the Yeshiva to produce “Neiros Lehoir.”
Everyone parted with an excitement in anticipation of the coming year’s special learning programs.
A special thanks to Eli N. Block, Berel Paltiel, Levi Duchman, Mendy Bresinger, Mendel Danow, and Menachem Schonbuch for putting the event together.
It ‘s a pleasure to see one son in this banquet.

the greatest mashpia!
i remember him every shabboss morning, when i sit down to daven. i remember his sencerity, his straightforward way of saying: its time to daven…
those were days…
hwen i was a bochur, the reason i went to manchester was because they were strict there about NOONEleaving for chodesh tammuz, even bochurim leaving yeshiva.
if this means they are loosening up, its a great shame. just as american yeshivas are fighting to keep the bochrim in, it would be sad to send others out.
wishing my yeshiva, and the amazing staff, much hatzlocha
Thank you to all the Bochurim and every member of the team that make this programme possible. You get out into the community come rain or shine touching peoples lives and leaving them feeling better for having met you. Well done to all of you, it makes us proud to be part of it.
