A recent NBC/Marist poll has Mitt Romney commanding the Florida Republican primary with the support from 42 percent of likely voters, as Newt Gingrich slips to 27 percent.
And if the the former Speaker of the House does not end up winning the Sunshine State, as is being predicted, he at least has the admiration of one Florida rabbinical student.
At a private fundraising reception in East Boca on Friday, 20 year-old Eli Hassan was among the 60 people present and he made it a point to praise Gingrich “for saying the truth about Israel.”
Hassan, a Monsey native who is learning at Machon Menachem – Boca Raton Rabbinical College, took the opportunity to personally speak to Gingrich and his wife Callista Gingrich.
“I don’t know who I will be voting for in 2012, but I thought he deserved a thank you,” Hassan told COLlive.com.
Gingrich has publicly stated in debates and interviews that Palestinians were “an invented people” from the 1970s, that the Mideast peace process is a “phony,” and that the Jewish people have a biblical claim to Jerusalem.
“You went against the norm, got a lot of criticism from the media and you still stood up for what’s right because you know peace cannot be based on a false pretense,” Hassan told him.
Eli Hassan said Gingrich “smiled and really appreciated what I said. He replied, ‘Thank you, thank you. Hey, You know what? I busted the media bubble and I’ll continue doing so If I have to.'”
Gingrich is the ONLY candidate that had the courage to speak the truth about Israel and the Palestinians. Kol hakavod to Eli Hassan for acknowledging this and thanking him.
Gingrich has no concern for the truth. but you my friend job well done.;)
you mamaish rock!
Reading this article is simple but yet very moving, its nice to see a young bucher at the age of 20 knows what his doing and talking about, very rare do you find such a thing, so thank you Mr Eli for standing up for Israel, no doubt in what ever you do in life youll be very successful.
SINCE has anyone as Speaker gotten as much done! AND NEVER has any other member of the Repblican Party ever stood up to become their sacrifical lamb the way that Gingrich did! As voters discover the truth about the kind of business Romney practiced, the candidate is finding out that coming to town now means bad news for his popularity. The more voters learn about him, the less they like him. It’s not hard to see why. Now if Romney would only be true to the tax code and the citizens of the United States. Less than 14% on $42… Read more »
Eli! that picture just tells it all, standing very sure of your self with confidence, so i have to ask how ddid you get in?
I can’t imagine playing a game of Monopoly against Newt, let alone having to run against him in a political contest.
I love this guy! That’s hilarious.
Florida is a very diverse state. There are several factors in play, one of the big ones being that a recent ABC News-Univision poll shows the Florida Latino community breaking for Romney by 49% vs. Gingrich’s 23%. I also agree that a big reason why Gingrich won South Carolina is cuz of the socially conservative crowd. But Florida is a critical swing state the GOP needs to win in November. If Romney beats Gingrich there, that’s saying a lot.
As the Congressional Republicans – and those who worked with him in the past – have been saying for quite a while; the more you get to know Newt Gingrich…the more you dislike him.
I personally have no idea how Newt is doing as well as he is. So I think I’m looking at things from a completely different angle.
my you be blessed in all you do,keep it up! i have no doubt that you will.

“Not Gingrich” is how Annette Purvis says she plans to vote. “I’ve never liked Gingrich. Never. Never in the history of Gingrich.” “I am turned off by his moral and ethical issues. He’s been divorced twice, is an admitted adulterer and was the first House speaker to be reprimanded by his colleagues for ethical misconduct.” All that has Purvis, a 49-year-old wife and mother from Laurel Hill near the Alabama border, looking elsewhere. “I’ll probably do Romney,” she adds, her hesitation apparent. Marty Upfield, a 64-year-old retiree from Pensacola, seems equally uneasy with Gingrich. She, too, pointed to Gingrich’s political… Read more »
ELI!!!!! GOOD TO SEE YOUR FACE!! BUT I WANT MY SHOES BACK… 🙂
Unfortunately, you don’t see gingrich lying too. Just read Gov. Christie, Bob Dole, Gov. Pewllenty’s comments about newt: “over the line” “false” “desperate” “rewriting history”, newt is trying in the most tempering, disgusting, immature way to stop Romney.
Well, Newt is christian too. O, could be you didn’t know, he just converted 3 years ago.. (True)
Nice work.
No surprise at all Eli, not at all.
I must agree, Eli for pres…all the way!
“just by the wayyy…..” ahhh i know that Eli face sooo well!
rock on man!
kayooraaaaaa
mitt is a christian the same way as obama is one, dont trust him one bit
Eli great to see you stand along a presidential nominee!
Eli Hassan for President.
I will be voting for Newt tomorrow. I see Newt as way more truthful than Romney. He definitely does not try to politically correct when talking about the issues. Romney will just say what needs to be said in order to get elected.
You are the topical naïve and gullible person believing every thing Newt says in his attack strategy. Mitt has changed his mind on a few things, but look into each one – the are reason behind them all, unless you like newt for good. Btw newt’s been on the other side for a couple things too….
Newt was the first to talk about the Arabs that way, mitt just got lucky in the last debate to be asked the question about the Palestinian problem
I personally believe that Eli Hassan would be a great US president.
Either way, keep up the great work Eli. We love you!
eli hassan, your my hero!
Eli, after how he stood up and said the absolute truth that no one else has said, you must vote for Gingrich.
And you don’t think Romney would ever throw Israel under the bus? Romney has been on both sides of every issue. He has done more flip flops then the dolphins at Sea World!
Btw Romney and Newt go w/ Newt. Romney is a phony.
Thank you,
Cajun Chosid
Wow Eli great to see you shaken’ things up!
c.t.g.
very nice and kiddush hashem
True! True! Go Romney!
