This year Bnos Chomesh Academy held a magnificent production.
This article was written by a Bnos Chomesh first time parent.
As the lights dimmed on a Sunday afternoon, I took a deep breath and settled into my seat.
We had heard so much about Mrs. Gorkin and her wonderful school, Bnos Chomesh Academy. Rumor has it that a child is allowed – nay, encouraged, to flourish as an individual and light up the world with their greatness.
As the music began, I watched a dream come true.
Our daughter does manage to make it through the usual tasks required of a student. Reading, writing, memorizing, studying, homework, etc. But her true light and greatness shines in the creative arts; when she can sing, dance, act, paint. We wondered: What if chinuch includes all elements of a child? What if there is a framework where she can truly express herself together with the information she is learning?
The answer was experienced that day. What a joy to observe her participating with her strengths, talents, creativity and truly feel part of.
The girls are encouraged not only to express their creativity, but to actively participate in the preparations and organization of this wonderful event. We watched them feel respected, trusted, celebrated and accepted. They felt and acted responsibly and experienced their ability to succeed.
When a specific need came up, measures were put in place to support the individual, including bringing in professionals to guide them.
Words fail to express the deep sense of satisfaction, nachas and gratitude that we feel toward the wonderful staff of Bnos Chomesh for enabling our daughter to feel included, accepted, loved, and to be encouraged to thrive. This is true Chinuch.
Bnos Chomesh Academy’s Charidy event is Sunday June 12th – Monday June 13th.
