Bnos Chana Melbourne Marks Chof Beis Shvat with ‘Kinus’

In honor of Chof Beis Shvat, the yahrtzeit of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson, Bnos Chana in Melbourne hosted a beautifully curated and deeply meaningful program that inspired every girl to truly take the message ‘Vehachai yiten el libo’ to take to heart, into her own life.

The day began with a warm and organised registration, where each girl, dressed in her Shabbos clothes, signed the Pa”n and was welcomed by Program and Event Coordinator Devorah Leah Schachter, with a personalised lanyard and ID badge, along with a welcome gift bag.

From the outset, the girls felt valued, included, and excited to be part of a special experience dedicated to the legacy of the Rebbetzin.

The overarching aim of the program was twofold: to help the girls internalise lessons from the refined middos of the Rebbetzin, and to deepen their understanding that wherever they go, they are shluchos of the Rebbe – carriers of his mission in their daily lives.

After davening, the girls rotated through three engaging and meaningful workshops.

One workshop invited the girls into a creative space, where they designed a beautiful candle artwork to hang on their walls. As they worked, they reflected on how they could become living נרות להאיר, inspired by the Rebbetzin’s example, by being more careful in tznius, greeting others with a smile, showing sensitivity to the needs of those around them, noticing someone who may be lonely, and practicing patience and kindness in everyday moments.

In another workshop, the girls were given the opportunity to share and record how they already live as shluchos – at school, at home, and wherever they go. This meaningful reflection helped them recognise that shlichus is not limited to geography, but is expressed through how they speak, act, and care for others.

The girls also watched a special Connection Point video about the Rebbetzin, thoughtfully geared for young children. The video brought the Rebbetzin’s quiet strength, dignity, and inner resolve to life in a way that resonated deeply with the girls.

Following the workshops, the girls entered the marquee for the Grand Banquet, where they were greeted by elegantly set tables in soft pink and gold. As they enjoyed the snacks and vegetable platters, they listened attentively to Mrs. Chaya Winner, who shared her personal experiences of being sent by the Rebbe on shlichus to Melbourne in 1987. Her words offered the girls a powerful glimpse into the dedication, responsibility, and privilege of being a shlucha.

The program continued with a moving video featuring young shluchos from around the world, each describing what shlichus looks like in their country. The message was clear and uplifting: Ashreinu – how fortunate we are that every girl in Bnos Chana can be a shlucha of the Rebbe, fulfilling the mission of our Meshaleach and bringing the Geulah closer. The video culminated in a stirring moment as every girl of Bnos Chana declared together, “I am a Shlucha!”

After lunch, the girls were delighted with a spirited roll call led by Mrs. Luba Kornhauser, shlucha of the Rebbe and co-founder of Bnos Chana together with her husband Mr. Eliezer Kornhauser. Each girl proudly waved a flag bearing her name and suburb as her area was called out, reinforcing the idea that every place is a מקום שליחות. Joyful singing and dancing to“From 770…” followed, filling the marquee with energy and unity, before the girls enjoyed delicious ice cream cake for dessert.

Each girl left the program knowing that she had been part of something truly special -a Kinnus HaShluchos right here at Bnos Chana, Melbourne, Australia, empowering each girl to see herself as a shlucha, carrying the lessons of the Rebbetzin in her heart and bringing light, sensitivity, and purpose with her wherever she goes.
