President Joe Biden on Tuesday announced that the US will ban Russian oil, natural gas and coal imports to the US due to Russia’s Ukrainian invasion.
In an address to the nation, President Biden said the oil will no longer be accepted at US ports, and this will “deal a powerful blow to Putin’s war machine.”
The move has “strong bi-partisan support,” Biden said, and said that the decision was made in close contact with the US’s European allies, even though “many of them are not in the position” to do the same.
The US has made the move unilaterally, without its European allies, due to disagreement among European nations about whether to ban Russian energy imports, CNN reported. EU countries have significantly more exposure to Russian energy than the US.
US officials decided, given the extreme political pressure at home, they could move without the coalition and not create major issues.
The move follows pleas by Ukrainian President Volodmyr Zelenskyy to U.S. and Western officials to cut off the imports, which had been a glaring omission the massive sanctions put in place on Russia over the invasion. Energy exports have kept a steady influx of cash flowing to Russia despite otherwise severe restrictions on its financial sector.

Don’t be so callous as to assume everyone is able to afford the rise in gas and therefore food etc. that will be a result of the oil ban.
Ceasing to purchase Russian oil without increasing American production and reopening all of our pipelines is suicide.

Russia wouldn’t invade Ukraine, gas prices would be low and nobody would be talking about lifting sanctions on iran.
Trump threatened Putin that the US would bomb Moscow if they invaded Ukraine.

Biden secretly told Putin to attack Ukraine, sacrificing countless lives and opening the country to a nuclear attack, just so that Americans would be forced into buying electric cars and saving the planet that humankind has destroyed.

In other words, in order to make things ‘green’, instead of US producing oil, he first supports the Russians by making them the major exporter of oil to the US and Europe thereby making us dependent on them and funding their war against Ukraine. Then, when that doesn’t look too good, he goes to Saudi Arabia instead to make us solely dependent on their oil. Sounds very green.
