Singer Benny Friedman releases brand new video, “Reb Yehoshua Omer.” One of the measures of true greatness is a person’s ability to inspire others to reach for their own greatness.
Rabbi Joshua Gordon, of blessed memory, was a great rabbi and a great teacher. And he inspired Benny Friedman, his nephew, to be a singer. Benny says, “Instead of encouraging me to be like him, he encouraged me to be like me. And he encouraged you to be like you. He wanted us to be the best and finest we could possibly be. He exhorted us To reach for greatness.”
Mr. Daniel Aharonoff is another person deeply and richly inspired by Rabbi Gordon. Daniel has already brought Rabbi Gordon’s message to millions of people by being the catalyst and powerhouse behind Rabbi Gordon’s 1000’s of Torah classes on chabad.org. And now he’s reaching further.
Thanks to Daniel’s enthusiasm and big thinking – the hallmark of a disciple of Rabbi Gordon – we were able to produce this special tribute.
“Here is ‘Reb Yehoshua Omer,’ a song dedicated to my uncle Josh, with the words and the message that he lived by and encouraged others to live by. The keys to life: energetic work and tremendous faith and trust in Hashem,” says Benny Friedman.
“These are words that Rabbi Gordon was told by the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Rabbi Gordon took these words to heart and transformed his life with them. Let us do the same.”

As an avid student of Rabbi Gordon’s classes, this song is a phenomenal tribute the Rabbi Gordon z”l and something one can listen to over and over and never feel that they had their “fill” of Rabbi Gordon and his inspiration
Excellent, well done, message comes across well. Inspiring!
Boruch sholom blesofski!
..and good to put it to music!! Reb yehoshua AH was a pragmatic, person who lived a bit above teva, but straddled both worlds..zchuso yagenaleinu
I’m not crazy about typical Jewish music, but this was beautiful. I love Rabbi Gordon and listen to his Torah classes every day. His voice throughout the song gave me chills. Thank you Benny and team.

I’m sure this is very meaningful to many Shluchim. Especially the “small town” ones.
