What were 100 girls from Beis Chana Miami doing at TopGolf, the popular electronic golfing center? They were celebrating the completion of the first term of the Achos Hatmimim program.
This program was founded by the Frierdiker Rebbe; he foresaw the difficulty for Jewish girls to stay firm in their Yiddishkeit among all of the enticing pulls that the world has to offer.
Therefore, he combatted this pull by founding Achos Hatmimim. Its goal: to bring Jewish girls to a level where they would be immune to the spiritual dangers threatening them. How? Through learning Chassidus. The girls would learn Maamarim with the guidance of Elter Chassidim, plus, they would hold farbrengens and work on themselves. By truly understanding Chassidus, the girls could understand the reason behind everything they do and get uplifted, influencing their mindsets and lives. This would give them strength to live a life that is true to Torah and Mitzvos, even while surrounded by the many distractions that exist.
In our program, following in the footsteps of the original Achos Hatmimim, the girls have voluntarily learned the Maamar “יוצא אדם לפעלו“ by the Friedeker Rebbe. This Maamar explains the core idea of each of us having our own specific purpose to fulfill within a limited amount of time, and how through doing our Avoda with Kabbalas Ol, we will accomplish that purpose and eventually come to enjoy our Avoda of Torah and Mitzvos as well.
In addition to learning the Maamar, the girls also took on Hachlatos in connection to these fundamental concepts of Kabbalas Ol and of using every moment to the fullest. They were mentored by older students who helped and encouraged them to continue making progress. The girls also enjoyed a multitude of varied events and activities which encouraged and guided them throughout their journey of learning and growing through Achos.
Beis Chana’s Achos program is led by four dedicated 12th graders, Batsheva Chazan, Rochele Cheruty, Chana Saidof, and Miriam Smith, with the assistance of 11th graders Mushka Pink, Sara Raizel Marlow, Hadar Avroya, and Chana Holzkenner, along with Bnos Chabad coordinator Mrs. Chanie Schapiro and Bnos heads Esti Smith, Libby Gopin, and Uriella Hakimian. The program is just beginning, yet the incredible feedback on the Maamar has been pouring in from all grades.
Chana Caroline, a 10th-grade student, passionately explains how this Maamar has impacted her life. “I learned that success doesn’t just happen. Everything in life, and especially my עבודה, becomes enjoyable, but only once I’ve really applied myself.”
Chaya Salazar, an 11th-grade student, added, “The way I resonated with this Maamar was that on days that may seem hard, sluggish, and not the best, I have a reminder that I have a purpose in this world, I have a specific mission I need to accomplish, and mine is unique and handpicked just for me.”
Chaya Masckauchan in the 11th grade summarized it beautifully: “Keeping certain things like tznius may seem super hard, but our neshama truly enjoys it, so for Hashem, we should always strive to be better. We should make it enjoyable and a habit because our neshama truly wants that for us. Our time in this world is limited, so we need to use this time now to learn, grow and inspire!”
The program is inspiring growth in so many ways. A student explains: “The Achos program brings Chassidus alive and makes it practical to me! I especially enjoyed the wrap-up farbrengen with Rabbi Estrin. It really brought the message home!”
All the work which the girls put in did not go unnoticed. They were treated to an exclusive Achos trip to TopGolf. Like we learned in the Maamar, we got to practice having that Kabbalas Ol to the instructors who taught us to become “TopGolfers.” We also enjoyed playing a game of “Truth or Dare – The Achos Edition.”
The inspiration continues as we debut an exclusive podcast, “Down to Earth,” learning באתי לגני תשי”א in preparation for Yud Shvat. The podcast, co-hosted by students Chaya Tauber and Chana Saidof, endeavors to make this foundational Maamar practical. The podcast can be found on Spotify.
The Achos Hatmimim program at Beis Chana Miami is powerful and transformative, helping students deepen their understanding of Torah and Chassidus and apply it to their everyday lives. Through learning, action, and mentorship, the program empowers participants to live a meaningful and purposeful life that is true to Torah and Mitzvos. And its powerful effects are only just beginning.
