Former Gaza hostage Matan Angrest, one of the survivors of captivity in Gaza, was released from the hospital on Friday morning after a period of intensive rehabilitation and recovery.
Just before returning home with his family, Angrest put on Tefillin together with Chabad Shliach Rabbi Pini Marton, the Rabbi of the Givat HaRakefet neighborhood in Kiryat Bialik.
Angrest shared that even while held captive in the tunnels of Gaza, he made an effort to pray every day. At the emotional moment of his release, he recited “Mizmor LeToda” — the Psalm of Thanksgiving.
Rabbi Marton, who had been in contact with the Angrest family throughout the months of captivity, described the moving scene: “To see Matan put on Tefillin with such calm and faith — it’s an image that strengthens us all.”
