Volunteer Crossing Guards

I think we should make a volunteer crossing guard system here, at least for a few hours a day. It is the ADULTS who need to respect the signals, and it is a MITZVA to guard human life. This is pikuach nefesh. Thinking you are not vulnerable is a sign of craziness. NY pedestrians may be crazy, but there is no reason for us, who learn Torah and should value life, to follow in those footsteps. Time to get back to basics. Who is going to organize it? Educational materials are available for free from your local city,county and state governments.
In Israel it is also not taught ,and there are no materials available to the religious.

In driving around Crown Heights today there were soooo many pedestrians crossing in the middle of the street, against the light or just without looking!!!

As it starts to get warm, people get excited and forget themselves, please be aware of where you are walking in the street.
