Bais Shmuel-Chabad, the flagship Shul in Crown Heights, has closed on a property this past Wednesday, Yud Alef Nissan.
The Shul, which is renowned for its warm community, innovative programming, and for providing an open and inviting place to visit for all those who arrive from around the world, has been searching for a location in the neighborhood for a permanent home.
They recently procured a prime space at Union Street and Albany Avenue in Crown Heights and will be working towards the betterment of the entire community with the building of a welcoming new Shul, social hall, and housing for our community.
This week, after much hard work, Rabbi Moshe Pinson, the founder and president of the Shul, has announced that they have succeeded in purchasing the property, with the closing taking place on the auspicious day of Yud Alef Nissan, the birthday of the Rebbe.
“It has been a long journey,” Rabbi Pinson told COLlive. “We thank the many donors who made the purchase a reality.”
In the coming months, the Shul plans to continue to design and develop the new building, which will be “a fitting and beautiful permanent home for Bais Shmuel-Chabad,” Pinson said.
The closing turned out to be a special day not only for members of Bais Shmuel, but for another individual at the meeting as well.
Marty Silverstein, a real estate closer who handled the proceedings, had not put on Tefillin for 10 years, he told the Shul members.
“The last time he put on Tefillin was 10 years ago, when he assisted in a closing for Five Towns Shliach Rabbi Zalman Wolowik,” Rabbi Pinson said.
“After hearing that it was the auspicious day of Yud Alef Nissan, he agreed to put on Tefillin again with us, and it was a true celebration,” Pinson said.
