Students of Bais Rivkah High School joined together for the first ever Hey Teves Celebration event, planned and executed by the G.O. girls. The event kicked off with a Seforim Sale where girls had the opportunity to purchase seforim of their choice at a discounted price, alongside a display of elegant desserts sponsored by Chantilly.
The evening was themed around the possuk “Mah Zaru Bachayim Af Hu Bachayim”, “We Are Alive”, and focused on what Hey Teves teaches us about the Rebbe and our role as chassidim. When we learn and carry out teachings of the Rebbe, when we are alive, the Rebbe is alive.
Three inspiring speakers were called upon by MC of the night, Mrs. Mushky Engel, to share insight on the deeper meaning of the story of Hey Teves and what it practically means to us.
Mrs. Sheva Tauby explained the deeper significance of the books in the story of hey Teves. “It wasn’t just about the books, it was about the Rebbe. The books were just a means through which the Nesius was challenged,” she shared.
Mrs. Rivky Katz delved into what it means to feel and be alive. “You are here to satisfy G-d’ s purpose of creation. This knowledge makes you alive, thereby giving life to the Rebbe,” she explained.
Mrs. Rivky Levy expounded on the idea that we as chassidim are alive and more active than ever. “Wherever we are, we can spread the light of the Rebbe”.
A niggun interlude was performed between each speaker by an exceptionally talented live choir, giving time to internalize the messages being given over.
The power in the room was tangible as Rivkah Scheinberger, student in Bais Rivkah High School, encouraged girls to recommit to learning the sefarim and teachings of the Rebbe by taking on a hachlata to learn with a chavrusah on a consistent basis.
The event came to a conclusion with lively dancing and joyous music by pianist Mirel Rosenberger, followed by a meaningful farbrengen with Mrs. Rivky Katz.
Special thanks to those involved in making this incredibly memorable event happen.
