Bais Chana High School, in Orange, CT, recently enjoyed a spectacular school Shabbaton filled with achdus, excitement, and meaning.
Held at the Heritage Hotel from Friday to Sunday morning, students were busy with an action-packed program over Shabbos and Motzoi Shabbos.
The guest speaker, Rabbi Shais Taub, provided much food for thought during the inspirational farbrengens that took place over Shabbos. The theme for the Shabbaton was “Staying connected”, and students delved into different aspects of creating real and lasting relationships. Workshops, led by the senior students, focused on connecting to Hashem, the Rebbe and friends and family.
When asked what was gained from the Shabbaton, one student said, “Chassidus in the morning really opened up my eyes about my relationship with Hashem. I learned that desire is one of the most vulnerable parts of a person. Hashem had a desire for connection, which is why He created us. Hashem is “obsessed” with us, and craves a connection with us. This made me look at Mitzvos in a whole new light.” Another student remarked, “A way to feel more confident and love yourself more is by helping others and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Think less about yourself, not less of yourself. When walking into a room, instead of looking at who you want to sit next to, look at who needs a friend to sit next to them.” Another student enthused, “Hashem made things forbidden because those things are unable to be used to serve Hashem and He doesn’t want us to waste our time.”
“The girls came away with a changed perspective and wonderful memories,” said Mrs. Bluma Hecht, principal. “Between the farbrengens, games, delicious meals, swimming, dancing and more, students had great bonding opportunities. Bais Chana is dedicated to providing meaningful Bnos Chabad activities for the students that round out their wonderful chinuch.”
