Yeedle Werdyger, a singer and music producer and son of Chasidic singer Mordechai Ben David, received a special and unexpected gift this week.
“I received a phone call from singer Avraham Fried, asking me where I am, because he has to bring me a special gift,” Werdyger said.
Werdyger said he agreed to meet Fried at a Sheva Brachos in Boro Park, who showed up wearing a gartel, Werdyger said.
He then asked Werdyger to “please go and get my Kallah,” he says.
Werdyger related that he went to call his wife of 31 years, and brought her along.
Fried then handed them a letter from the Rebbe, which the Rebbe would send to couples before their wedding day, signed two days before Werdyger’s wedding, 31 and a half years ago.
The letter wished Mazel Tov and Brachos for his wedding, but somehow it never got to him.
This week, one of the Rebbe’s secretary’s sons called Avraham Fried, and asked him if he knows who is Yehuda Avigdor Werdyger, who the letter is addressed to.
“Avremel called my father, who confirmed that it is in fact his son,” Yeedle Werdyger said.
Werdyger was deeply moved by the unexpected find and blessings he has just received.
“I’m sure the brachos are already mekuyem from when the signature was signed, but I guess the shleimus of it is getting it,” Werdyger said. “And wow, what a shliach to bring it, it makes the whole thing even more amazing…incredible find,” he said.
