For the first time ever, the young Women’s Kinus, which takes place during the International Kinus Hashluchos in New York, will be open to the ASL (American sign language) community.
The 7th annual Young Women’s Kinus is organized by Chayala Mentz of Bel Air, CA and Sarah Elharrar of Los Angeles, CA with assistance from a board including Chaya Junik, Raizel Schapiro and Chaya Zirkind.
During the convention, hundreds of girls gather in Crown Heights to socialize with friends, enjoy gourmet meals, and receive a spiritual lift with eye-opening sessions presented by world- renowned speakers infused with the theme “V’zeh kol ho-odom v’sachlis bree-oso.”
This year, the Kinus will be more inclusive, with the addition of an ASL interpreter at all programs.
“A few weeks ago, a daughter of Shluchim emailed us that she is deaf and would like to participate in the kinus this year,” organizer Chayala Mentz told COLlive. “She explained that she lives far away and doesn’t have the opportunity to spend time with Lubavitcher girls her age. When she saw the schedule of lectures and workshops she decided this is a weekend she doesn’t want to miss,” Mentz said.
Organizers immediately arranged for an ASL interpreter who will be at the Young Women’s Kinus this year.
“We would like to warmly invite all young women who would benefit from ASL,” organizers added.
On Sunday, we will be having a 24 hours Yud Shvat giveaway.
We will be only giving 50 tickets to join the Kinus at the yud shvat sales price!
