Chabad artist Sheina Dorn has created a vibrant new mural, this time in Crown Heights.
Dorn is known for her colorful street murals which she has painted in locations around her hometown of Los Angeles and other places around the world.
While visiting Crown Heights this week, her cousin Shimon Liberow suggested she paint a mural to brighten the neighborhood.
“She only had one day left here, and I said perhaps she could do one of her famous murals before she leaves,” Liberow told COLlive.
Seeing the Wine By the Case storefront, they realized it would be a great spot for a colorful painting.
“I called the owner, Menachem Reich, and he agreed,” Liberow said. “So we ran to True Value Hardware, who graciously sponsored the paint and supplies.”
On her last day in town, Dorn arrived at 11 am at the shop located on Empire Boulevard near Brooklyn Avenue, and she painted a beautiful mural of Shabbos wines – both red and white, along with a festive “L’Chaim.”
“I had to leave by 2:00 to catch my flight back to LA,” Dorn told COLlive. “So I actually painted it in less than 3 hours!”
“I ended up running to the airport covered in paint, because the method of getting those lively splashes of wine was me literally throwing the paint with my hands,” she says.
“The mural really brightens up that corner of the neighborhood,” Liberow said.
“I love bringing life and joy to everyone,” Dorn says. “This painting is all about “L’Chaim!”, the celebration of life which we all need right now. I love spreading joy with my art, and help people feel like celebrating life.”

You just improved the value of the Real Estate by a huge margin.
Looks great!
I agree with your assessment!
I concur with your evaluation!
Never had the heart to tell the proprietors of the store how drab the outside really looked. Well, drab no more! Brava, Shaina. Love the colorful yet clear graphics. No irksome mishkabbible to decipher
it looks like many stores in this hood who unfortunately need to have these metal contraptions over their storefronts for safety
Fabulous. Coming to crown heights in the early ’70s the environment, the cuisine, lack of greenery, and color were sorely lacking. through the decades’ things began to change as new ideas and creativity starting to take hold. this mural brings (and hopefully more to come) hope, vitality, and a bit of spunk uplifting for all. surely this addition supports the idea of taking our talents, using them, and elevating them for kedusha. good going, Shaina. come back and do more, better yet teach the residents to paint as well. l ‘chaim!. The store True Value on East NY Donated the paints towards this project!
Thank You True Value for your help in making this possible
Thank you.
I think a wine store should have a classy storefront
I think this motif expresses what the store sells and is very pretty and inviting (if not classy)
they do when the gates are up in this community now when closed you need the good solid gates
Excellent way to being simchah to the streets …nice
