Over 250 community members, alumni and friends gathered at the Mayanot shul to celebrate the second night of Chanukah.
The event featured live painting displays and art from two different artists, Nathaneal Harkham and Mayanot Alum, David Brooks, as well as live music from the Nachman Jam Band.
The paintings were displayed all around the room and each painting that sold was donated to Mayanot. The event ran late into the evening with the crowd eagerly looking on as the live paintings were created from start to finish.
A new member to the Mayanot community, Dahlia Oziel remarked, “there were so many new people to meet it was so nice seeing other young people in the community, and the live music and painting display was spectacular.”
Projects coordinator for Mayanot, Susie Muller, was very happy with the event. “Both artists are extremely talented and with everyone who came out, we were really able to spread light to people who might not yet have felt comfortable coming to shul”. Encouraging people to connect to the community and inspiring them in their yiddishkeit have always been one of the Mayanot shul’s goal.
Lighting the menorah, with so many people partaking in the mitzvah, really made the whole gathering joyous.
Mayanot would like to thank Yossi Fraenkel, David Brooks and both Nathaneal and Jacqueline Harkhams for collaborating to organize this amazing event. May we only continue to spread the light and warmth of Chanukah into the rest of the year.
