The Tuv Taam Corporation, a Brooklyn-based appetizing company and one of the largest Kosher appetizing companies in the New York Tri-State area, has joined in on the Shalom Zachor-gifting celebration this week.
After hearing about the generosity of Simon Bergson of the Manhattan Beer Company, who announced that he will be giving beer for all the New York area Shalom Zachors this week in celebration of his selling his company’s chometz this Pesach, the Tuv Taam company, which is under the strict supervision of the OK Kosher certification, was inspired to follow suit.
“Tuv Taam’s owner was so moved by the story, after hearing that over 200 families will be receiving beer, they decided to gift each family with chickpeas for the Shalom Zachor as well,” Rabbi Kalman Weinfeld, rabbinic coordinator of restaurants, catering, and hotels for the worldwide kashrus organization OK Kosher told COLlive.
Tuv Taam will be giving each family, along with their beer, a large container of chickpeas for the Shalom Zachor, a celebration welcoming the birth of a baby boy, in which beer and chickpeas are customarily served.
Tuv Taam’s post-Pesach rush meant that workers had to come in to work especially for this, producing a special run just for the occasion, Weinfeld said.
