The Oholei Torah elementary boys school in Crown Heights kicked off an anti-bullying campaign in conjunction with practical application of the Jewish commandment “Love your fellow Jew as yourself.”
The slogan for this project is “Read, Learn & Live.”
All the students learned from a booklet about Ahavas Yisroel that they were then tested on. The children also watched an informational video about bullying, and had class discussions on the subject.
As an incentive for the school project, the students received “rubles” for participation and application. They were able to purchase prizes with the rubles at the end of the campaign.
Rabbi Hershel Lustig, dean of the elementary department, who coordinated the campaign, said that he has already seen positive feedback, and many parents were glad that the school had put special emphasis on this important issue.
