A group of 33 Chabad Chassidim – among them rabbis, Roshei Yeshivas and Shluchim – are backing another initiative promoting achdus and ahavas yisroel among Anash.
“Some of us were on a conference call and the idea came up to start doing things every once in a while to unite Chassidim,” one of the organizers told COLlive.com.
Requesting to remain anonymous so as not to divert attention from others involved, the man said “there is a bottom-line cry to do things that will unite Lubavitch.”
Among the names involved are Shluchim, Rabbis Gershon Mendel Garelik of Italy, Berel Lazar of Russia, Shmuel Lew of London, Yehoshua Binyomin Rosenfeld of Columbia, Shabtai Slavatizki of Antwerp and Zvi Grunblatt of Argentina.
From the U.S. Shluchim, there are Rabbis Yisroel Deren of Stamford, Shalom Ber Kalmanson of Cincinnati, Zalman Liberow of Flatbush, Sholom Ber Lipskar of Bel Harbour, Mendy Herson of New Jersey, Sholom Moshe Paltiel of Port Washington-NY, Shaya Deitsch of Pennsylvania, Nechemia Vogel of Rochester and Zushe Winner of Brighton Beach.
Shluchim from Canada are Rabbis Berel Mockin of Montreal, Moshe New of Montreal and Zusha Silverstein of Montreal, Menachem Mendel Matusof of Alberta and Levi Jacobson of Toronto.
Rabbonim in Chabad communities are Yossi Shusterman of California, Zvi Telsner of Melbroune, Nissan Mangel of Crown Heights, Sholom Ber Chaikin of Cleveland and Menachem Mendel Gluckowski of Rechovot.
And from the Yeshivos, Tzfas Rosh Yeshiva Yosef Yitzchok Wilschanski, Migdal Haemek Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yitzchok Goldberg, Oholei Torah Mashpia Rabbi Nachmen Schapiro and Tel Aviv Rosh Yeshiva Yossi Ginzburg.
Three more, all residents of Crown Heights, are Rabbi Leibel Altein, Rabbi Aba Paltiel and R’ Shmuel Brook.
Their first tangible activity will be a Chassidic Farbrengen broadcast live on the Internet in honor of Yud Aleph Nissan, the Rebbe‘s birthday.
The webcast which will be aired on community news service COLlive.com on Thursday, April 14, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Eastern Time, will feature a discussion with Rabbis Nachman Schapiro, Leibel Schapiro and Leibel Altein.
The topic will be “How important and how much nachas it will give the Rebbe when we look past our differences and realize we are one family. There is no agenda here other than that,” organizers said.
A separate, but similar, achdus effort was organized last year for Gimmel Tammuz 5770 with articles and live classes on ahavas yisroel. The group has not been active since and their website FamilyofChassidim.com is offline).
People involved in this new initiative said they plan on keeping on with more programs and activities.

Aderaba Let’s hear some good practical ideas
Do share it with all of us and BTW Do it
Someone (people say Einstein) said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Does it really matter (except to those listed themselves) WHO is organizing something? Does it matter that anyone is ORGANIZING something? Or does it matter that something is DONE? Does it matter if that which is done is toorganize an event that TALKS about doing something, or does it matter that someone or people do something other than talk? If you want to change things, do something different without talking about it. As Nike says, “Just do it”. Yes, I have… Read more »
rabbi yosef yitzchok wilshansky is the rosh yeshiva of yeshiva gedola tzfas
i agree totally!
There is achdus in Lubavitch. There has always been achdus in Lubavitch. Regular members anash [yes, not every in Lubavitch is a Head Shliach] always got along with each other. We daven together, seat together, our children go to the same schools and get married.
The only people who don’t have achdus are the askanim/shluchim/rabbonim, the so called “leaders”. They always used the regular people for their agenda. Today, their agenda is achdus so they are promoting a meaningless shiur.
Don’t fight, and don’t promote achdus
I don’t understand why some people would not be happy with this, and I also don’t understand why some people always have to think of the negative and not the positive attitude? and bh at least we all want achdus, maybe some things we do or how someone acts does not show it, but in fact we all are one, and I know that the Rebbe would in fact be happy with this wonderful thing that they are doing and not the opposite, so don’t look at the bad things and the who and the what if, but think of… Read more »
It’s funny. There is always “achdus” when you have get togethers with people who get along anyway. Where’s Rabbi Moscowitz and Rabbi Turen on this list? Or will the fellows from the Tzfas yeshiva be participating? Achdus is easy when you don’t include everyone.
Lets have complete Achdus for all of Beis Yisroel Speedily in our days 😀
Moshiach Now!
some these shluchim themselves have been part and parcel of the problem
and why dont the meshichists publicize the sicha where the rebbe said dont call anyone moshiach just do the work
Trying not to disrespect the people upset (!) by this, I must say, I can’t ever remember such a combination of names.
May not be the final answer, but it’s def a good start!
To the above respondents that feel this movement is not completely sincere or realistic, the response is Mtoch Shelo Lishma…. or in english, “Fake it until you make it”
cant afford tuition, cant afford sending kids to camp, cant afford kids weddings, cant afford a car, buying less for pesach,
achdus and avahas israel must translate into deeds for those around us

Are you out of your mind
The Crown Heights BD is only a source of division and derision.
It is a spend force with little or no credibility.
The very opposite of unity and peace
The latest election fiasco is the nail in the coffin.
People need to keep away
Another immensley important development.
The Rebbe’s zy”a is an excellent rallying point for we Chassidim.
May all those involved be blessed with the enthusiasm and capability of inspiring us in our Avodas HaShem.
Let us hope that G-d in His infinite mercy will send Moshiach Now.
More practical & more important is the yeridah of yiras shamayim in our kehillos. I hope they focus on that.
Is the Beis Din of CH included ?
yes will support any group or person(s) that on some level will live and be an example of this fundamental and essential ingredient in the foundation of this world…will try my best in my life day to day to live what is trying to be done..there is truly so much profound words said by so many for so many centuries about this subject..what i will do to contribute with complete commitment… is try each and every day to live it..not talk not tell not show but live it..first if needed i will live it on th outside..then if Hashem will… Read more »
It’s like the boy who cries wolf. MAYBE this time they mean it. MAYBE this time things will be different. But I, ever the eternal skeptic, am just waiting for more of the same. In any case, the problems here in CH lie with outsiders: the rabble-rousers from EY & their in-house supporters. Start doing something with them. We have another Lag B’Omer parade coming up. Are we going to see more disruption & anger? The other side is just as bad, they respond. Some would say “Well, THEY started it.” And that’s true too. You’re right, and you’re right.… Read more »
Wow! Wow! Wow! (As understood from the Rebbe’s famous Sicha about Talmidei R’ Akiva suffering because ‘Lo Nohagu Kovoid Zeh Bozeh’) To think that everyone will agree (and/or that that is what Achdus ‘looks like’) is NOT the point of such an exercise, nor is it expected, as Chaza”l emphasise: “Ain Day’oisay’hen Shovois”. Achdus means that while vehemently disagreeing, we love, care and SHOW respect for each other (“NO’HAGU Kovoid Zeh Bozeh”). Which is why, if from time to time, Chassidim who differ on important issues unite, and sit together B’Achvo in one Farbrengen (even if tomorrow they may sit… Read more »
Beautifull!
working for achdus together is a step towards achdus!
The Rebbe’s reply (as published in the Kfar Chabad magazine, issue 959): And it is still necessary to clarify to whom and about whom the Rebbe wrote this. And there are those who say that in any case there were those who wanted to distance those from Lubavitch who were involved in matters of Moshiach, and this is what this answer refers to: “There is no obligation at all to search for who is the Moshiach. But it is a mitzvah from the Torah to love every single Jew, and to effectively remove dissent, and it is obvious that one… Read more »
ב”ה If We Were United From an address to the shluchim by Rabbi Shmuel Greisman Shabbos Parashas Re’eh, Elul 5763 There was once a great rosh yeshiva that ran a very large yeshiva. Many students from around the world wanted to study with this particular rosh yeshiva. These students came from all kinds of backgrounds, and each one had his own personality, traits, and manner of divine service. Yet all of them studied with this particular rosh yeshiva. Each student understood what he learned in a different way, and although they all listened to the same shiur, each one took… Read more »
Its sad to say that achdus hardly exists amongst people there…and i’m not refering to the politics, just the day to day attitudes of people there and how they treat each other.
at least one of those listed is currently involved in the most disgraceful, open display of sinas chinam towards a lubavitcher in his neighbourhood. (not to mention the major chilul Hashem he and his family are making)
Including such individuals undermines the sincere efforts of those who really want change.
Let’s see someone stand up for the truth once and for all!
ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS!
we need a curiculum to be instituted in our schools and then implement practical ahavas yisroel in the curiculum
we need to capture the hearts and minds of the next generation
this generation is history …
we have enough shiurim, another 60 minutes of talk won’t change a thing
what we do need is that some of the above mentioned should stop fighting each other (“he is an official shliach”, “he is a mushroom” or “this is my turf” etc.)
Whatever you have to say, we all heard a long time ago – from the rebbe himself. what’s interesting is that his wish for achdus is not being fulfilled
