Former Governor and Mayoral Candidate Andrew Cuomo visited the Rebbe’s Ohel this morning in honor of the New Year, accompanied by Rabbi Yaacov Behrman of the Jewish Future Alliance and Stephanie Knepper Basman.
Governor Cuomo wrote a Pan note and spoke about his special friendship with the Jewish community. He mentioned his father’s deep connection to the Crown Heights community and his longstanding friendship with Rabbi J.J. Hecht, and noted that his own first public appearance was on Rabbi Hecht’s radio program.
Governor Cuomo said he wished the Jewish community a happy new year.

Perhaps the blessing will be that Cuomo will NOT be mayor— Eric Adams will (or Sliwa) but the Rebbe’s blessing to Cuomo might be that Cuomo does teshuva of sorts.
