This should not have gone to the judges. The winners should have been chosen on our votes alone. WE are going to enjoy (or sit through) the concert on OUR dime, unlike the judges who are either performing or will undoubtedly get a free pass.
Just because I enjoy Avremel and Mendy’s work does not mean I want to hear the same music as they like; I doubt I eat the same food as they do or use the same brand of deodorant either for that matter :).

I think you should trust Avremel’s opinion on vocals over the other two.

To 136 That’s how I saw it as well, AF was disappointed, he was expecting him to do something serious. But he was not serious about the competition at all he just wanted to have some fun so he put out that funny video (which was actually very creative). 157 – I agree. Gershon was the one semi-finalist I thought was actually vocally absolutely stunning. He has a big voice and I disagree with Avremele. I thought hit the highs very strongly. I hope he doesn’t give up. I would buy his CD any day.

I loved the comments of the judges, a lot of them were on the ball. I do not see anything wrong with Choni Grunblatt’s performance, video could have been improved (but is that what the judges judge? well maybe). I do not see why the the judges went wild over Avraham Ohayon. Although, I listened again after their comments and noticed a uniqueness to his voice. Maybe I’m bias because I did not enjoy the song. Maybe it is because he is the only gershon around….. I thought that Fried was not right on as you say. He is the only one who was not chosen but got the best coments from the judges. He should have been one of teh three along with Sadon and Ohayon. Binyomin Moshe does not even come close.

Why do the judges comment on the video performance? isnt that not the point? the point was the singing. michael complained about the light behind teitelbaum’s piano, such a small thing and dosent say anything about b.m.’s bed. just a thought… Go ohayon! was a very nice singer and cant wait to see him on the concert! ohayon and binyomen moshe very similar to me. but one’s french and the other israeli. have the judges carefully analize the tapes and put forward their choices this way the audiance too will have no choice but to score on talent not popularity that’s the way it’s done for 9 seasons and still going strong

Avremel knows Boruch personally and thinks highly of his talents. He can’t figure out why Buroch is singing so meshugah.
I don’t think Buroch war vary serious about the competition. He just used if as a platform for a creative bug he had to get out.

Very entertaining! its good to see avraham fried talking.. Even though he is just a singer, he potentially can ifluence people b.c of his name and respect for him. Maybe one day he will be more influential, we all could use it.

Choni Teitelbaum is VERY talented I don’t know if his voice is the best but he certainly has allot to offer musically, I predict you will you will hear from him in the near future as well. Boruch Blesofsky is another great talent he composes phenomenal compositions and sings pretty well as well he will be heard from as well. Fried was actually understating in his criticism Shapiro’s voice quivers on low notes and and thins out on high notes. But he can keep a tune.

But what’s with the entertainer? Enough comments about not being a music professional. That’s quite clear. Was he supposed to be the foil for the other two. I actually gained appreciation for A. Fried and M. Sojcher who handled themselves elegantly and professionally. The other fellow seemed to waste my time and insult my intelligence. Consumers and the general public do not require clowns at the bull fight to understand what is going on. Often time the producers under estimate the viewing public’s intelligence.
You guys are both great guys, really musical, well trained voices and a pleasure to listen to, but I wouldn’t say you were blessed with a “superstar voice” so the judges are correct in my opinion. but keep on singing!

Impressed with the great idea of a contest, but disappointed that the ‘hollywood’ attitude prevailing over talents. All 3 winners have high pitched voices and great work up in the studio. The ones that followed the rules of ‘ record as you can’ have not been chosen despite the talent they can offer.

On what criteria are the judges marking?
I think that all the singers here have major potential.
Showing your songs to people who do not recognize and cannot appericiate the syle of singing or song that you’ve sung does not mean that the individual that has sang has a bad voice.
I personally think that all the singers here were great and need to find their particular group of people who enjoy their music.
overall great voices. Particularly, I enjoyed M.L’s voice. sing a better song though, next time. 😉

Yay! Avraham Ohayon won. he was very good and had a beautiful performance. the judges were a bit too harsh/ blunt, but whatever. I just hope the contestants they spoke about wont get offended and be sad.

No he wasn’t. He said “from one kohen to another stick to nigunim”. Also his facial expressions on “what on earth was that? reggaie, rap, hip-hop” told you exactly that he didn’t agree with the STYLE.
Problem is that Avremel himself has introduced MANY GOYISHE styles into the Jewish world. Growing up, Avremel and MBD were the ONLY singers we listened to and they introduced me to rock, shuffle, funk, disco, country, jazz — you name it!

1. I find it amusing, to put it lightly, that AF criticizes people for their lack of “life” on the video – when we all know he’s pretty much stiff as a board on stage. Avremel was simply saying that to start off with a chissidishe niggun and then switch it up like that wasn’t what he was expecting.
whoever was chosen was chosen b/c hashem wanted to them to. so don’t blame anyone. i think everyone in the contest had talent but those 3 were exceptional.
Choni Grunblatt should have been in the top 3. I would have picked him over Sadon. But I totally agree with the other two choices.
Also, I certainly did not expect the judges to be so harsh and critical. They spent a whole lot more time on Chesronos than on Maalos. I found it very strange.

I am so glad that the judges recognized the talents of the final three. I am blown away by Avraham Ohayan (I listened to his song on repeat for a good half hour), but was concerned that he wouldn’t be chosen because it’s “outside” of the more traditional Chabad/stam Jewish recordings that I’ve heard. To say the least, I am relieved that the judges criticized the overly produced recordings and videos. this is about singing, not finding the next lipa/berry weber/mendy pellin
we have enough show ppl puting out cd’s every other day. this is about voice. and in that sense, i think the judges made a good call (while i would still go to any blesofsky concert)
It is very noticeable the power this website has to bring out talent, and get people involved. Please use these talents to create other competitions and programs that bring out talent and strengthen chassidishkeit.

I’m a little surprised to see how harsh the judges are. If I were a guy who thought about submitting, but didn’t, I wouldn’t in a million years after seeing this. I feel awful for the contestants.
