Following the incredible response to their last event, Junior N’shei in Crown Heights is eagerly anticipating its next event, titled “Working it Out with the In-laws” on Monday, October 28.
Open to women of all ages, (mothers-in-law included!) the event promises to be practical and entertaining with Rabbi Mendel Samuels of Simsbury, CT speaking on the topic of “How to Strengthen and Enhance Your Relationship with the People who Raised Your Spouse”.
The classic advice to newlyweds that “You’re marrying him, not his family!” may be true on some level, but when it comes to in-laws who deliberately sugar-dose your kids despite your healthiest intentions, a new kind of marriage therapy is in order!
Rabbi Samuels will be addressing all of the important things you need to overcome situations like being financially dependent on your in-laws but not exactly appreciating the strings attached. Or, dealing with well-meaning but unsolicited parenting advice from in-laws who were clearly raised in a different generation.
Perhaps your problems are of a different nature. Maybe you actually want to close your own kitchen for Shabbos and accept your in-laws much-appreciated invitation, but suddenly it’s their son with the cold feet who feels that his parents will be imposing on him. Or, maybe your in-laws require extra attention and care which your husband is happy to provide, but is conflicting with the needs of his wife and children.
On the flip side entirely, maybe you love your in-laws to pieces and you’ve never even made the “in-laws or outlaws” joke, or the “shver and shverrer” one. In which case, it’s still a great idea to come and be a part of Junior N’shei of Crown Heights. To help you make up your mind, you might want to know that there’s going to be a hot milchig buffet sponsored by Pomodori.
Doors open at 8:00PM, program begins at 8:15PM
Admission (which includes raffle ticket) $8 and $5 for BR Head Start parents.

I’m a shviger and I have a fantastic relationship with my DIL who are the most amazing wives & mothers….and daughters in law! I’m very fortunate. One of them turned to my son on Shabbos & said, well, you know your mother will take my side! I always do, because they are always right! My sons are very lucky to have married such great girls. I still might go, if only to hear The Grand Rabbi of Simsbury….and HIS wife is a star too!
It’s awesome!! Please share designers name
Great job PGraphics!
