Rabbi and Mrs. Levin of Kfar Chabad were blessed with a large family.
They raised their 11 children in a loving and Chassidishe home in the heart of Kfar Chabad.
Their home was known to be an open home, and infused with the teaching and directive of the Rebbe.
On Erev YomTov, while several family members who had come for Sukkos were sound asleep, a fire broke out.
Miraculously, someone was awake and noticed the raging flames just in the nick of time, and everyone was able to escape safely, with only their shock and emotional wounds.
The fire was devastating, consuming everything in its path, and reducing what was once a beacon of Torah and Hachnasat orchim in the community, to a pile of ashes.
“We watched our memories and childhood burn right before our eyes, everyone knew and was welcome at the Levin family home,” stated one of the children, with a tear in their eye.
As the authorities were able to put out the fire, the Levin family and friends began the process of sifting through the piles, in hopes of finding any surviving artifacts.
Toys, pictures, furniture, seforim, kitchen utensils, all gone.
While painstakingly combing through the ashes, a white spot was visible through all the charcoal.
Indeed, an envelope, and more importantly its contents, had survived the destruction.
Friends and family wept as they noticed the writing on the envelope:
“Rebbe Dollars”
Yes, a stack of Dollars from the Rebbe lay on the floor, whole and complete, in pristine condition.
“It was almost like the Rebbe was sending us a message,” family members remarked. “It was like the Rebbe was wishing us a good Yom Tov, and reminding us that Sukkos is a time for Simcha and joy.”
The Levin family is going through an impossible time.
“They were ALWAYS on the giving end,” stated a neighbor. “Now is the time to give from the heart, knowing that your donation will make a real impact.”
The Levin Family home must now be rebuilt, and the costs are simply enormous.
Please open your hearts and help!
