On November 7th, 2012, close to 350 members of the Montreal Jewish Community joined the Chaya Mushka Seminary in honoring philanthropists Cristina and Maurice Supino with the Chai Lifetime Achievement Award.
At the Annual Feast of Nations Seminary Gala guests were treated to an elegant and delectable dinner catered by Renaissance Catering – Simone Toledano, and a performance by 11 year old world-renowned pianist, singer, songwriter, composer and actor, Ethan Bortnick.
Coupled with a lively auction hosted by radio personality Tasso Patsikakis, moving speeches and an award ceremony, Rabbi Avraham Cohen, Director of Chaya Mushka Seminary expresses, “When we support an institute like Chaya Mushka Seminary, we secure a promise of a Jewish tomorrow.”
Rabbi Mikhael Dahan, dean of the seminary, addressed the attendees on the importance of the Chinuch offered at The Seminary and the success the Seminary has enjoyed since its inception 24 years ago. He spoke of the important work the students accomplish in the Montreal Community and later throughout the world on Shlichus.
The spirited Live Auction and popular Silent Auction provided much needed funds for students in need of financial assistance, allowing some of the brightest and most motivated ladies from around the world to thrive in the spiritually enhanced environment of The Seminary.
Rebbetzin Simcha Abergel, an alumna of the Seminary, shlucha of the Rebbe in Singapore, addressed participants on the meaningful experience and education she received while attending the Seminary.
Thanks to the Seminary, she now runs the Jewish Community Center and sits on the board of Directors of the Jewish Day School in Singapore. She gives classes on the weekly parsha and integrates the Torah themes as lessons into the daily lives of the Jews of Singapore.
Montreal Council General of Israel, Honorable Joel Lion, spoke of his personal experiences with Chabad around the world, and said that the graduates of the Seminary serve as important role models of all Chabad houses and Jewish Centers around the world.
Rabbi Cohen concluded that “As long as we have partners like we have at our side, we will continue to provide the finest education to the Jewish mothers, teachers and leaders of tomorrow.”

Rabbi Dahan is truly a gem. As a parent of an alumni I can attest to that. the secret behind the success of sem is his devotion to every student and his deep conection to chassidus which he transmits to the girls in the most practical and lasting way. may you continue to see nachas from all our girls.
So nice to see the growth. I remember when the classes were 8 girls! Simcha so proud of you!
Mrs. Kaplan and Mrs. Mockin have not changed a bit!
May Hashem bless you all with continued success!
He is one of Lubavitch’s underappreciated and unknown gems. What a grounded Chossid – mutzav artza v’rosho magia hashomayma. Get to know him and you’ll be happy you did.
As an Alumnae, I can attest of the impact Rabbi Dahan has on the students, their life and their shlichus.
Keep it up.
