Alternate side parking returns Monday in New York City, but Mayor Bill de Blasio says there will be a major change moving forward.
“We’re about to make the biggest change in alternate side parking in the last two decades,” the mayor announced Tuesday.
Alternate side parking has been suspended for most of the coronavirus shutdown.
The city will bring it back for one week starting Monday, but drivers will only have to move their cars once.
“When it comes back next week, if you live on one of those bocks that right now you have to move the car twice a week, you will not have to do that,” said de Blasio. “You should only do it once a week.”
Cars must be moved on the last day of the week listed on the sign.
There are no changes to:
Streets that have just one day of ASP regulations on each side
Commercial streets or metered areas
The City will assess cleanliness conditions throughout the summer to decide whether to extend or modify the new rules after Labor Day.
This is not a good thing we pay very high taxes we should at least of clean streets
Says the guy who probably has a garage or doesn’t have a car
Yes it’s a pain to move my car but I’d rather clean streets.
This is another broken windows policy being thrown out in order to make life easier for some at the expense of the city as a whole.
Neighborhood has been lobbying for this for years…
really???
The mess that is in the streets does not smell and if anything the smell is coming from the sidewalk what near some houses some houses are never cleaned
2. It makes no difference between 1 or 2 days a week.
During covid the streets only started getting dirty 2 to 3 weeks in to covid we don’t need so much.
Your taxes does not pay for the cleaning,it is the tickets that pays for the cleaning. this the number 1 thing that the police gives tickets for.
This is great news. Alternate side is pointless the streets don’t look any better. Look at the sidewalks. How about street cleaning once a month and sidewalk cleaning weekly.
Twice a week. once on each side of the street
who’s pocket is it going to
Doesn’t exactly work like that…
Poor attempt by the Mayor’s office to enact a change citywide which has been the bain of almost every New York Driver’s life for the sake of gaining some likability at a time when DeBlasio has become the most hated person in NYC he has literally destroyed the great city of New York with his weak liberal posture towards protesting rioters and crime spree taking place in NYC. He should be impeached if that’s even possible.
100 percent
Can someone please clarify: Is it once a week per side of the street, or once a week per street?
It is once a week per side of the street.
It says “NYC ENDING TWICE-WEEKLY street cleanings”.
Is Eastern Parkway included, since one side has street cleanings 3 TIMES A WEEK??
if there is 3 days on the sign then there is only alternative parking on the last day on the sign.
What about kingston ave?
Only on fridays,
That is great! The streets don’t get dirty as fast and we can tell by the blocks where you need to move your car once a week. Corona also proves that theory at least around here and at my workplace somewhere else in Brooklyn where my CCTV can see the streets. If this works out it will only be Thursday & Friday which would be a game changer. I’ve been working on moving due to the Street parking, after doing it for over 20 years I am done! p.s. You will most likely get at least 1 to 2 parking… Read more »
