Through the active involvement of the Moment of Silence initiative, Arkansas, Arizona and Florida have been mandated to practice the Moment of Silence, in recent years.
Districts in Westchester County and Niagara Falls, as well as a province in Alaska, have also been mandated to assist children in public schools, as was the Rebbe’s heartfelt request, starting from the 1980’s.
There are also 13 additional states that have been mandated, in previous years.
As MOS continues to work with the NYC Department of Education, a new possible alliance has developed. Dr. Stacey Haley, Senior Director of special projects of the DOE and Mr. Steven Strull have developed a wonderful daily program of 2-5 minutes of mindful breathing for public School students in the NYC school system.
They are interested in working together with Rabbi Avraham Frank, international Director of the MOS initiative and Shira Frank LCSW, to help expand their program, adding a new dimension to their daily practice.
To help expedite this process, it will be extremely helpful if a school or classroom is practicing the MOS, and is able to demonstrate this practice to Department of Education personnel. Please contact Avraham Frank at [email protected], or 917-754-2268, if you are aware of a school which is practicing MOS, and might be willing to participate in such a demonstration.
