Aliya’s annual Ski Shabbaton truly left everyone on a tremendous high!
Spirits were already on a high from Aliya’s successful campaign last week to build a beautiful “one at a time” mikva. Now it was time to celebrate!
All 20 guys bonded together with the Aliya Rabbis for a lively musical kabbolas shabbos. They sang the davening from beginning to end followed by a Shabbos meal with a tremendous abundance of delicious food that rolled into a fabrengen which went late into the night. Guys took turns being chazan for davening and leining.
Shabbos concluded with a musical Havdala led by Yisroel Okunov, a bowling trip, and a barbecue Malave Malka. Many committed to keeping Shabbos again this week!
Sunday morning, the boys rose early for Shacharis, breakfast, cleanup, and a day skiing Hunter Mountain.
“Baruch Hashem, we all made it home safe and sound with a memory that will last forever,” said Rabbi Moshe Feiglin, Director of Aliya.
“Until recently I have not been a regular at Aliya, but when my friend told me about the Shabbaton I thought I should give it a try,” said Ari Leverton, a Shabbaton camper. “From start to finish it was an amazing experience. The excitement and joy in the atmosphere was real. Kabalos Shabbos, the meals, and farbis were all so joyful and inspiring. To be honest, if we didn’t go skiing on Sunday it would still have been one of the most uplifting Shabbatons ever. The Skiing just took it next level!”
Special thanks to Rebbetzin Feiglin, Rebbetzin Shemtov and Rebbetzin Baits for sending off your husbands to be part of this uplifting and transformational Shabbos.
In the meantime, Aliya’s Mikva project is going full steam ahead. The plumbers have embarked on a very complex mission of moving steam pipes, replacing the hot water boiler with a new instant hot water boiler, digging drain pipes, running hot and cold water for the mikva, shower, toilet, and vanity. A new entrance door has been installed, and Aliya guys are demolishing old walls.
