A concerned resident is alerting Crown Heights residents to beware of a gang of young men who are prowling the neighborhood in the early morning hours, trying to steal from parked cars.
The group of 3 – 4 men, who appear to be in their 20’s, were seen by various residents walking up and down the streets of the neighborhood between 3 – 6 am, trying the door handles to see if the can open the doors, so they can steal the belongings from inside the car, the resident told COLlive.
The resident said he personally followed them on Motzei Shabbos, and witnessed them doing this.
Another resident says that the group was out again at 5 am this morning, doing the same thing.
“Motzei Shabbos they succeeded in getting into a car on Montgomery Street between Brooklyn and New York, but a Jewish passerby saw them and chased them away,” he said.
“To make sure you and your belongings stay safe, don’t leave things around in your car. Make sure the doors are closed and locked at all times,” a member of Shmira Volunteer Patrol advises residents.
In case of an emergency, call Shmira 24/7 at 718-221-0303 and 911.
