Rabbi Avrohom Lipskier is a name venerated in thousands of Chabad homes around the world, in the households of the thousands of students whom he taught, guided, and introduced to Yiddishkeit and Chassidus.
In the early 1960s, while still a bachur, Rabbi Lipskier took note of the many “hippies” that came by to 770 in search of meaning and inspiration. Rabbi Lipskier took many of these youth under his wing and started teaching them Torah and Chassidus. Shortly thereafter, when Hadar Hatorah opened its doors, Rabbi Lipskier continued his work as a member of the faculty of the new baal teshuvah yeshiva.
The Rebbe was personally invested in the development and growth of the baal teshuvah yeshivos. In fact, when someone once said something negative about Hadar HaTorah, “the yeshivah that so-and-so made,” the Rebbe responded: Ich hub gemacht der Yehivah (It was I who founded that yeshivah)! The Rebbe also referred to baalei teshuvah as meiner (my own)!
In 1972, at the Rebbe’s behest, Rabbi and Mrs. Avrohom Lipskier set out to Morristown, New Jersey, to establish Yeshivas Tiferes Bachurim for young college students at the Rabbinical College of America. In 1999, Rabbi Lipskier established Yeshivas Tiferes Menachem in Seagate, Brooklyn, where he continued his lifelong work of bringing the light of Yiddishkeit to those who grew up in secular environments.
Hundreds of Rabbi Lipskier’s students became rabbonim and shluchim and many hundreds others grew beautiful families in communities around the world. The ripple effect of Tiferes is impossible to comprehend, as everybody who was touched by Rabbi Lipskier, together with his amazing faculty over the years, continue to touch the lives of tens of thousands of Jews all over the world.
In line with the Rebbe’s instruction to publish a Sefer HaTmimim — a photographic album encompassing all the students who studied in Yeshivos Tomchei Temimim—Rabbi Lipskier has always wanted that all his students of Tiferes-Morristown, Tiferes-Seagate, as well as those whom he taught in 770 and in Hadar HaTorah in the 60s, be gathered into an album which will contain photos and a short biography of each student.
Baruch Hashem this album is now being compiled and will I”YH be published in the very near future.

Hatzlacha Rabbi Lipskier is the best!
Beautiful. I studied in Tiferes under Rabbi Lipskier. A very special time. I recently heard a tidbit about how the Rebbe actually gave the name Tiferes Bachurim to the Yeshiva. Rabbi Herson was planning on making a division in the Morristown yeshiva for baalei teshuva, and some parents of Tomchei were concerned about the dynamics. The Rebbe called Rabbi Herson in to yechidus to discuss the arrangement and actually gave the name.
