Baptist minister and talk show host Al Sharpton one again walked the streets of Crown Heights on Monday, the same neighborhood in which he helped incite violence against its Jewish residents.
Sharpton was one of the many that attended the J’ouvert Festival and West Indian American Day Parade that was held amid beefed up security.
The security is tighter than it’s ever been, with 4,000 police officers deployed because of violent incidents that happened in the past, WABC reported.
Elected officials and those running for office came out to take part in the parade, among them Governor Andrew Cuomo and his rival Cynthia Nixon, Mayor Bill de Blasio, Senator Chuck Schumer, Public Advocate Letitia James, Comptroller Scott Stringer, and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.
Notably present was New York State Senator Jesse Hamilton who represents Crown Heights. Hamilton was warmly received by many as he faces an uphill battle against those opposed to his independent streak such as pro-Israel activism.
Jewish residents stayed in indoors or kept themselves busy elsewhere, but those who were present were deeply disappointed to watch how Cuomo proudly marched alongside a polarizing figure such as Al Sharpton.
Norman Rosenbaum, brother of Yankel Rosenbaum who was stabbed and killed by a mob during the Crown Heights Riots in 1991, accused Sharpton of “vile words that incited the anti-Semitic rioters, which made an already volatile violent situation much worse.”
“Sharpton never called upon the rioters to stop their anti-Semitism-inspired violence,” Rosenbaum wrote in an op-ed in 2011. “He never called on the rioters to go home. To the contrary, he stirred them up. And three days of anti-Semitic violence became the Crown Heights riots.”
This past Friday, Sharpton stood alongside Nation of Islam leader and notorious antisemite Louis Farrakhan at a funeral service for a famous singer.
“It was absolutely jarring to see one of America’s leading purveyors of antisemitism given a place of such prominence,” Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League told The Algemeiner.
“Sadly the African-American community has a blind spot when it comes to antisemitism,” Abraham Foxman, head of the Center for the Study of Anti-Semitism at New York’s Museum of Jewish Heritage, told The Algemeiner.
“They have always given a pass to Louis Farrakhan’s racism and antisemitism. They don’t recognize him as a racist and antisemite, and that’s sad for the relationship between our two communities.”
The fact that Farrakhan was at Aretha Franklin’s funeral is evidence of the leftist change that allows anti Israel bashing and anti white comments to permeate out culture and elections. The answer (@ comment #19) is to get three thousand people to block vote in the less participated democratic primaries of Crown Heights which is 90 percent democratic votership. Boro park is a different demographic. The current political rivalry in the African American community makes Jews the determining voting block. ( See nys board of elections results). Also, start making friends with the Chinese in Sunset park who are part… Read more »
Instead of paying attention to this vile character, COL should find positive interactions between Jews and Blacks. There was a Jem video sent out the same day of a Black leader going to the Rebbe and saying how Blacks and Jews have suffered and how Jews have helped Blacks and everyone should get along.
The parade celebrates Carribean dress and culture. Everything we see and hear is a lesson in serving Hashem. Lets be proud of our dress and traditions.
Where is “The Seven Noachide Laws “float? Missed opportunity?

As enticing as your thoughts on street justice may be, it’s too dangerous to vote Republican down the line. I really hope you don’t have a pre-existing medical condition. Oh, and thanks for toning down the racism…
What is more disturbing to me that a place of such spirituality is the host of a parade featuring hedonism (I know it celebrates carribean culture as well but the most prominent attraction at the parade in addition to carribean food and flags is the flaunting of hedonism), and in a community that takes so much care in isolating the community from hedonism in pursuit of it’s spiritual value system, it’s abhorent that Crown Heights is tge location when Manhattan and/or other sites would be far more accomodating to hedonism. Many spiritually wired carribean christians are as offended if not… Read more »
The one thing we need to do is register to vote and vote republican down the row. Defeat these dangerous democRATs. I recall when sharpthon tried to come to Boro park after the police gunned down Gideon bush a mentally challanged individual and Yeshiva boys sorrounded his van and yelled anti Semite go home. He sat in his van for like ten minutes debating what to do as police formed an inner circle around his van. Then he left as he feared being attacked by the teenage chassidim. He is an antisemite and will soon end up in the fires… Read more »

These people are their customers?
I don’t understand why they would pay the extra money for kosher wine…
I did not know that people felt like Al Sharpton incited violence back then. I was pretty young. What I do know is that some people are tired of all of this violence. It has not done anything but drag innocent families into history of the past. These unidentified people are using names from past history, the way the Police and Politicians were and affecting our lives now like we are stupid. I do not appreciate being forced in someone past to not have my life normal. People need to stop being in denial of what their games has costs… Read more »
leading a mob and chanting “Lets take our streets” Whose streets?” “Our streets” Everyone shouting together. He was the leader.
It was beyond frightening! Never forget who he is!
Your Subheading baffles me!
It makes it sound like the issue with al sharpton is the fact that he happened to share the stage with farakhan. How about the fact that he himself is a straight out anti-semite???
What he did and caused to this community!? That’s a good enough reason alone to be appalled that that Rosho merusho walked OUR STREETS. He is not guilty by association, he HIMSELF is guilty! And the way you write it plays that down…
Who do you think is their biggest market?
An entire neighborhood and many communities held hostage, annually by this mob parade.
All parades take place in Manhattan as they should, because it doesn’t interfere with peoples lives and schedules. Why should this be different.
how many real African and carribean people are disgusted by this parade.
You forgot to mention that right next to both these antisemites stood non-other then….. BILL CLINTON!
Yes, a former president of the United States on the same stage with these scum.
Louis Farrakhan is connected to scientology and possibly actually a scientologist himself..
It’s enough of an inconvienience that the parade happens on our doorstep (mitzad tznius, pritzus, etc), do we really need pictures of it on COL as well? Can’t we keep COL to slightly higher standards?
What’s with the bartenura van? Was it part of the parade?
New York’s finest Schumer, Cuomo, Sharpton the trifecta. All you are missing is Dinkins LOL. Bright light like CH attracts a lot of flies.
Sharpton is a changed man. From fat Al he has changed to skinny Al.
