Agudas Chassidei Chabad International and the Crown Heights Beis Din both issued public calls to add in Torah, Tefillah and Tzedakah in light of the current dangerous situation in Ukraine.
Agudas Chassidei Chabad has released a Kol Korah, calling on the public to increase in Torah, Tefilla and Tzedakah in light of the crisis.
In a voice note to the community, Crown Heights Bais Din Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba said, “This is an ‘eis tzarah,’ and we have hora’os from the Rebbe many times the importance to inform everyone of the necessity to participate in Tefillah and Tzedakah and whatever you could.
“Tehillim should be divided by day of the week and before you say the Tehillim give tzedakah,” Rabbi Osdoba said. “The Rebbe said that it is important to connect tefillah to tzedaka.”
Crown Heights Bais Din Rabbi Yosef Braun said, “We have a general klal from our Rabbeim, ‘Tracht gut vet zein gut’ – first thing is to strengthen in bitachon, and if we think positive it will be positive. But also, as yidden we have things we have been trained to do for generations going back to the forefathers, we should increase in our avodas Hashem and particularly increase in tefillah. Specifically, we should add extra Tehillim – in addition to saying the daily Tehillim, we should say the Tehillim as it is divided by the days of the week, and increase in tzedakah which is mevatel all gezairos and kitrugim – all negative things.”
Rabbi Braun added, “sometimes when it comes to such a situation, people go into a panic and they naturally go and check the newspapers and the websites, to see what’s news, that doesn’t help in any way the situation. But the aibeshter will give us the good news directly Himself, instead of focusing on doing that, every minute the person does that, he could’ve said another kapitel tehillim, and another posuk in Torah.”
