Ofakim, the city near Gaza that has turned into a battlefield , is currently burying its children.
Dozens (!!) of dear Jews, the city’s residents, civilians, police, and soldiers were murdered in the city and its surroundings by 40 terrorists who infiltrated from southern Gaza.
The descriptions are shocking, horrifying. It seems that Hamas terrorists are only competing with the Nazis in their cruelty.
A chilling silence envelops the city. In the sky, the roar of combat aircraft taking off for Gaza from the nearby base is heard. House windows tremble from the bombings in the strip, and fear dwells in the hearts. Almost no one leaves their homes. The echoes of the battles in Ofakim and the scars of terror are still engraved in the city, and all the residents fear that such an event will happen again in the immediate future. The few who do leave their homes do so on their way to funerals at the city’s municipal cemetery or for the purpose of obtaining food and medicine.
The Hamas terrorists wanted and still want to murder, to kill, to destroy Ofakim and the South.
B’ezrat Hashem, we – together with you – will build, affect lives, illuminate, and continue to assist every week with food, clothing, and footwear for hundreds of needy families in Ofakim, and especially now when a situation has arisen where thousands of families urgently need our assistance.
The Chabad House in Ofakim, known as an organization that works extensively with needy families, both in educational institutions built to excellence and in economic assistance and food, and, of course, in spiritual light through Torah lessons, Chassidut, and bringing hearts closer among thousands of families.
Now is the time to help the city’s residents and the shluchim of the Rebbe in the city and to complete the construction of the main Chabad House – a massive campus of 1,000 square meters, with the main building constructed exactly like 770 at the Rebbe’s. In this complex, 5.5 million shekels have already been invested, and it is close to completion. However, an additional investment of 3.2 million shekels is needed to actually enter it.
The campus of Chabad Ofakim, a massive complex located in the heart of the city, right at the seam between the old city and the new city, and it will include, with Hashem’s help, a massive synagogue, an assistance center for needy families, some of whom are already being helped at the Chabad House of Ofakim, study halls, an educational center, “The Rebbe’s Room,” a hall for smachot, and more.
This holy campus, centered around 770 and the Rebbe’s Room, will be the physical and spiritual protection for the city’s residents.
