For years, they were struggling with a green color in the Mikvah water. Adding various cleaning agents and changing the water were simply not helping. Until the Rabbonim shockingly discovered that the Mikvah was completely not Kosher! Read more
This should have never happened! Let’s ensure that this never happens again!
A beautiful Mikvah in an Israeli city was favored by many, due to its stunning structure and great service. The director of the Mikvah reached out to professionals in the pool industry to solve a rare issue of the water constantly going green despite all the chemicals being applied.
After all failed, he turned to the “Center for Chabad Mikvaos” for assistance. As the visiting Rabbonim began to inquire and to question, they realized that the Mikvah hadn’t been Rabbinically inspected for the last ten years. When they opened the Otzar HaZri’yah, the Rabbonim found that roots of a tree had broken through the cement of the well, and a tree had grown, with leaves, in the rain water well.
The green color of the water was the small problem. The bigger issue was that all the rainwater that was in the well was gone, and it was constantly being filled up with city water! This means that the Mikvah had not been Kosher for many many years…
Unfortunately, this is one of many stories that illustrate the absolute necessity of constant Rabbinical supervision for Mikvaos.
To ensure that all Chabad Mikvaos in Israel maintain the highest standards in Kashrus, Bais Din Rabonei Chabad in Israel have established the “Center of Chabad Mikvaos”. The Rabbonim visit each Chabad Mikvah at least once in two years to change the rainwater, and inspect the upper and lower pools, and the roof and canals that bring in the rainwater. This process has detected, corrected and prevented many Halachic issues throughout the years.
The center is also involved in funding and planning the building and remodeling of Mikvaos in every city, town or settlement where Anash or Shluchim reside.
Rabbi Menachem M. Gluckowsky turns to all Anash and Shluchim worldwide to partner in this initiative. The cost of all this is astronomical, and the Zechus of taking part in all this is infinite and eternal!

Once in 2 years? The Elder Rabbi of Bnai Brak, Rabbi Landau A”H would inspect every Mikvah under his jurisdiction once every 30 days. !
