Rabbi Avrohom Wolf, Chief Rabbi and Head Shliach of the southern Ukrainian seaport city of Odessa, was the guest speaker at a Gimmel Tammuz Farbrengen in Brooklyn’s Brighton Beach Tuesday night.
Brighton Beach is known for its heavy population of Russian Jews mostly from Odessa, thus receiving its name “little Odessa.”
Rabbi Efraim Zaltzman, Director of Chabad of Kingsborough and Rabbi of Young Israel of Brighton Beach, organized the event.
Young Russian Jews participated into the late hours of the night. There were also several other Shluchim in attendance from Europe and Israel.
Rabbi Wolf spoke about the impact the Rebbe has on world Jewry, and how we can connect to the Rebbe today.
The words of inspiration that came from the heart were followed by some moving JEM presentations of the Rebbe which left participants very moved.
The impact was so great, tells Rabbi Zaltzman, that 6 working people with families decided to go to the Ohel right after the late-night Farbrengen.
“They took their cars, drove to Queens, went to the Mikvah and afterwards went to daven in the Rebbe’s Ohel in the wee hours of the morning,” he reported.
“I find that B”H more and more young Russian Jews are searching for meaning, and are looking to be connected to a community,” Zaltzman added.
Wonderful work!!
