An all new Season Three of “A Jewish Star” – the world’s first Jewish music singing competition – was launched this week, with many seeing the contest as the next step in the recent evolution of the Jewish music industry.
Last year, music fans from every continent were captivated by the possibility of discovering the world’s next singing sensation.
‘A Jewish Star’ Season 1, which attracted over 50 auditions and over 61,000 votes cast online, was a groundbreaking event in Jewish entertainment, capturing the imagination of thousands and garnering fans worldwide.
Season Two took the Jewish music world by storm, with 144 contestants vying for the title. Dozens of music careers were launched following the contest, as a string of amazingly talented contestants were viewed by the public, with over 262,000 votes cast online.
The finale concert held in Brooklyn was a sold out event, with 10 adult finalists and three children finalists competing in a suspense-filled finale, each giving spectacular performances. 16 year old Mendy Piamenta of Israel and 11 year old Yisroel Amar of Golden Beach, Florida were chosen as the 2011 Jewish Stars.
The unparalleled superstar of Jewish music Avraham Fried, who has been inspiring audiences for the last 30 years will once again assume the mantle of a judge on A Jewish Star, contributing his wise and astute insight as he did in Seasons 1 and 2. Fried is once again joined by Chassidic comic Mendy Pellin and Eli Gerstner, the multi-talented Jewish singer, songwriter and producer who is responsible for the successes of the Yeshiva Boys Choir, The Chevra, and the Yosis Orchestra.
Joining as a judge for Season 3 is the legendary composer Yossi Green, whose songs have been featured on over 150 albums, and has composed hit songs for countless singers including superstars Mordechai Ben David, Avraham Fried, Yaakov Shwekey, Dedi, and most recently, Shloime Gertner.
“I think it’s amazing that you are giving young people a chance to connect to Torah and Jewish music,” said Green about the competition.
This year’s third season of the worldwide competition is executive produced by Yossi and Mica Soffer of COLlive.com and Unique Image Advertising. Partnering with them is the Milvado Corporation’s Chezky Kaufthiel and Charlie Harary, who will assist in expansion and execution of the production.
The Jewish Star concert will be produced by world renowned producer and conductor Yochi Briskman.
With Season Three beginning, the anticipation is skyrocketing. Who will audition this round, who will be the public’s favorite and what will the judges say?
The deadline for auditions is Dec 10, 2011. Finalists will perform at a live show on February 5th, 2012 at Brooklyn College Center for Performing Arts in Brooklyn, New York.
A Jewish Star 2012 is sponsored by Aderet Music, Eichlers.com, Elite Sterling, Gourmet Glatt, Joy of Kosher, Kosher.com, Kosherica Cruises, Milano Wigs, Plaza Auto Leasing and COLlive.com.

is for men… What’s to stop a guy from listening to a tape, CD or DVD emblazoned with the words- for women only!
A website that says for women only should be enough of a warning and if someone is that insistent on listening to females sing- then nothing you, I or anyone else tries to do about it will make a difference.
BS”‘D
Hey people please stop being really silly about the girls competition, its sexist and not right. Just let the girls do their own, care about others, and dont only strive to make yourself happy. If it’s within the bounds of Halocha and Tznius there should be no objection to it, it’s not the Rebbes way to discriminate.
What’s to prevent guys from going onto the web site and listening? or listening when the ladies in the house have it playing? If it’s ok for guys to listen to a woman’s voice, then we have no problem. If it’s not allowed, then it’s not allowed. Simple as that.
Girl judges?? Camman
To people being disgusting about it (16 especially): It is totally possible for something like that to happen, without the problem of Kol Isha. Female judges, the live concert being at a production, or just something small in Crown Heights. It would be very fun for someone like me, and I’m sure many others.
Ill start a jewish girl star competition 🙂 only women can view the site
omg i can not wait
my only concern is that it should only be apropriate songs!
so go organize one
I’m being serious.
I’m sick of entitled feelings. My two year old says “me me me!”. If you’re old enough to perform, you’re old enough to make it happen. In a tznius’dika way :).
Totally… girls need they’re own show too 🙂
